Help! Need dairy-free dessert ideas for tomorrow lunch

Have an unexpected guest joining us for lunch tomorrow and they're dairy free. All I have to offer is fruit ☹️

I do have some single oat cream in the fridge, plus usual store cupboard ingredients. Can anyone help please?

Rice pudding? I would go for fruit salad in this heat.

Sorbet! Perfect in hot weather.

Apple strudel or other fruit strudel! This was my fav dairy-free pudding when I was breastfeeding my CMPA baby!

Just what I was going to suggest. Lemon, mango, orange.

Fruit salad either tinned or make yourself.

Use aqua faba to make a dairy free chocolate mousse.

If you want to get something via Whoosh or Uber eats, the coconut collaborative little choc pots are lovely, gu do a plant free Spanish lemon cheesecake or if you get some plant based butter/margarine you could knock up a quick cake (I wouldn’t fancy that in this heat).

An impressive dessert cake is:-

ginger or Marie biscuits arranged in a row on a nice plate/platter
beat the oat cream stiff (or get non dairy cream and beat stiff) cover biscuits all over in it, thickly, spread the cream over them.
you can soak biscuits in strong coffee or liqueur before assembling cake.
put in fridge and serve sliced diagonally
delicious 😋

You can make a chocolate cake with oil instead of butter - lots of recipes online. Or if you want something easy make a fruit salad and easy ice cream - fruit of your choice, a squeeze of lime juice and frozen banana blended together with a spoon of honey or maple syrup.

Eggs aren't dairy so are fine.

Lemon meringue pie, cold, without the pastry, in pots

Pearlstillsinging · 20/06/2026 22:25

Booja booja Ice cream fom Holland & Barrett and some supermarkets.

mullers1977 · 20/06/2026 22:26

Eton mess with oat cream

Caramelised oranges - they’re delicious especially in the heat. Nigella has a recipe, but I just slice oranges and put them in a dish and make caramel and pour over (dont stir the sugar). Make in advance and refrigerate , but not too far or the caramel dissolves.
eta to refrigerate - that’s why they’re so delicious in the heat - really fresh and cooling

Chocolate mousse is dairy free , just eggs and dark chocolate

SourdoughSally · 20/06/2026 23:02

Thanks for all your suggestions. Will probably try a chocolate cake/buns made with oil and served with cream.

Heat up the cream and pour it over chopped dark chocolate, let it sit for 2 minutes and then whisk into a smooth ganache-type chocolate pudding. Put nuts or berries on top. Let it set in the fridge. (You can also use tinned coconut milk instead of oat cream).

SmallGoddess · 20/06/2026 23:09

Summer pudding is dairy free but I don;t imagine you've time to rustle one up.

You can use stork margarine for a sponge cake. How is cream dairy free?

Crispynoodle · 20/06/2026 23:23

Apple pie? Tarte Tatin

RockyBirdy · 20/06/2026 23:27

Muffins use oil. You can add whatever fruit you have. Blueberry is the obvious one, but I love apple and cinnamon.

Sounds perfect. I’m DF and we actually laugh at how many times I’m offered Fruit Salad.
