Can you please tell me your favourite ready meals, I can't cook currently as I've broken my shoulder.
Charlie Bighams prob a bit pricey and M&S don't deliver so unfortunately not them, I've access to delivery from anywhere else though thanks.

most of the finest type ranges in supermarkets are ok, not as good as cook or M&S but fine for a couple of weeks. Filled pasta is good and easy to cook one handed, you could add a ready made sauce, some cheese and a ready made salad.

My guilty pleasure are the Cathedral City ready meals that I occasionally buy in Iceland as they're not the healthiest.

The Gym Kitchen range at Asda and Tesco microwaveable meals are usually tasty, usually include fresh veg

Yes I get the Thai green curry one sometimes when I’m struggling with health. Lots of veg and legumes, fillings and v healthy. I have it on top of a big handful of rocket with a squeeze of lemon.

The Iceland Luxury range are outstanding as far as Im concerned.

I think it's personal taste. I think ready meals in general are a lot better than they used to be, but it's trial and error.

I have a chicken biriyani in the freezer from Iceland that I'm looking forward to. I can't be arsed with Charlie bighams as I think theyre all oven ones in individual wicker baskets that you need to remortgage your house for.

Tesco Finest do a lovely beef stroganoff, parpadelle with ragu and thai style red chicken curry (not spicy) I haven't tried the others but I'd bet they're pretty good too.

Thank you, this is exactly what I wanted, specific recommendations.
I'll make a note of them.

Not quite a ready meal, but loads of the filled tortellini or gnocchi is really nice with ready made pasta sauce. And literally takes 5 mins (if not less) to put together

I can only use one arm and am in considerable pain, handling pans full of boiling water is not a good idea, hence asking for ready meals

I've tried these too and they are surprisingly good... easily comparable with m and s or Waitrose. Their moussaka is delicious

My mum is housebound and very frail, so little strength to do any cooking these days, sadly. She relies on Co-op ready meals, which I order for her online. The ones she likes are the premium versions of cottage pie and lasagne. They're quite tasty. I've also had the Co-op paella and moussaka (bought for me to have when visiting as they often have buy 2 for £x deals which brings the cost down quite a bit) and they were fine.

When I broke my little finger and was in a cast for a while, as well as having ready meals and very simple meals, when I felt ready to do some cooking I made extensive use of all sorts of ready prepared stuff like frozen chopped garlic, garlic paste, ready grated cheese, prepared salads. I don't normally spend the extra cash on these but needs must when you can't chop, grate, stir, get things out of a hot oven etc etc. Solidarity!

Feel your pain, I completely smashed my right shoulder a few years ago.

We used a mix of Cook (present from my Mum), Aldi gastro, Sainsbury’s and Asda. Also had lovely church friends that kept us topped up!
microwaving frozen peas/sweetcorn, steamed veg gave us the sides.

it was surprising though that I found a few basic recipes that I could do after a few weeks, if whatever needed chopping was soft (mushrooms), packet rice etc- and just enlisting DH as sous chef.

Even buttering bread for a sandwich was like a party game- watched lots of YouTube videos on how 1 handed people cope! Hope you recover quickly x

I haven’t tried them but I like the look of Stocked - they are the kind of thing I would batch cook myself, with no weird ingredients.

You’d need carbs with most of them but could get microwave rice packets or frozen potato cakes or ready made mash.

Thank you, and yes, everything is a nightmare and so painful.

Yeah, no.
I'm 48, not 98.

You asked for recommendations, the PP gave them.

familyissues12345 · 07/12/2025 22:37

I like the Sainsbury’s taste the difference ready meals, they’re often on offer. I’d get some of the Birds Eye veg bags to go with them, we particularly like the green veg medley one

Rude Larry, Musical was only answering your question! I won't bother with my answer now.
