Has anyone moved to Ocado deliveries?

We are a family of two adults and DD6, currently have a monthly pass with Asda but the quality seems to be getting worse, especially the fruit and veg.

I normally have about 3-4 deliveries a month and spend around 350-400 a month on main shops and top ups. I cook meals from scratch and try to batch cook but buy snacks and most treats.

I've just had a browse on the Ocado site and some of the bit looks lovely, especially the higher welfare meat.

Has anyone moved to Ocado and been happy, I can get most deliveries in my area so open to suggestions too 😀

Well, I moved to Ocado deliveries about 17 years ago - and haven’t found it necessary to stop!

It’s a very slick and seamless operation. The website and app (even though the revised app is a little annoying) work beautifully; there’s a decent range of products one would actually want to buy; it’s easy to shop instantly from your favourites or instant shop once you already have a list you’ve bought from, and they price check against Tesco - so occasionally you may get a voucher for 63p if your bill comes to more than the Tesco equivalent. Arranging deliveries is incredibly easy, lots of slots available, and the well presented, polite, cheerful delivery people will carry crates or bags right into your kitchen if you want. Or hand over the bags on your doorstep if you prefer.

(In the past I’ve been grateful they brought things up to a third floor flat, when others declined to do so.)

The fact that products are delivered from a warehouse means you’re not dependent on what’s available to be picked up from a local supermarket - that really does make a difference. Substitutions are rare but generally acceptable. And if your eggs arrive broken you enter that on the app straight away and get a no quibble refund.

Gone are the days of free newspapers and a free anniversary bottle of wine - but it’s still streets ahead of any other everyday online grocers.

(That said - I do buy most of my fresh fruit and vegetables from Riverford …)

We changed to Ocado while I was pregnant and couldn’t manage to food shop (they also had vouchers on for % off and free delivery for 3 months at the time) and it was the best thing we’ve ever done!

The quality of the food is always good, hardly any substitutions (it seems to know when you go to checkout if it will be in stock) and always found of there was an issue they refund straight away! The quality of the food is great and especially some of the premium branded items (like Daylesford Farm!)

We pay for an anytime monthly pass and I don’t think we’ll go back to actual food shopping!

I have Ocado deliveries as a treat - normally I shop in local supermarkets; I’m always happy with their produce and service.

I've used Ocado since it started, initially just once a month or so, but during lockdown I had a weekly delivery and have carried on with this. I have an unlimited smart pass (I think it's about £100 a year) and quite often do an additional top up shop if I need a few extra bits or have guests coming.
There's a really good selection of food, as well as a wide range of other things (have occasionally added sheets or kitchen utensils to order).
Food is good quality, easy to request a refund on the rare occasion something has been damaged in transit.
Deliveries are almost always within the one hour time slot, and the delivery staff are great.

I changed to Ocado , when it was Ocado/Waitrose after mil gave me a voucher, and haven’t stopped. I rarely get substitutions and they’re normally on time (and early).

The Ocado prices and offers match the regular prices of other supermarkets. You perhaps don’t get so much of cheaper, value lines. I have a mid week pass for them.

I've used them since 2009, maybe? Really love the convenience and that I have never experienced odd substitutions. I miss Waitrose products and definitely stick with them as ocado works so well, not for the m &s food.

I’ve used them since before COVID and swapped when Tesco annoyed me by losing my points. Ocado are so reliable and I hardly ever have substitutions. I do miss the Waitrose products but am more than happy with the choice otherwise.

We've used them regularly since about 2010. We joke that our kids won’t know what to do in a supermarket as we only go in on holiday.

Good quality (also miss some Waitrose stuff but do like M&S offers) and few substitutions. In the last year we’ve had a few issues with poor packing damaging packaging but refunds are easy to deal with.

I've had a disappointment with their meat and fish. The fish was rotten and the meat tasted dodgy. Got a refund but now I just get m&s goodies from there like the pistachio and almond biscuits, sultana cookies and they do a baileys substitute in caramel brownie flavour!

I've used them for about 20 years, have a yearly pass, and a delivery every week or so.

I honestly can't remember when I last had a substitution - any sub is usually appropriate and have only refused one and was when the chicken wasn't free range.

Had Ocado for 6 years now and am always very happy. I like the mix of branded and M&S, as their produce is always good quality. The best thing is there is rarely and missing products or substitutions.

I've started doing a mixture of ocado and sainsburys, after a noticed a drop in avaliable products from sainsburys, and problems with delivery (items turning up damaged or dirty).

Ocado is so much better. Prices are similar to sainsburys. Better range of products.

I'm doing a mixture of the two based on comparison of prices. I am now paying for two delivery passes though, which may be a false economy.

I've been shopping with Ocado for many years, and generally find them very good.
The deliveries are almost always on time, and they now send a text when yours is the next delivery call, which I find useful. They deliver in bags which are easy to manage for me, and their drivers are helpful and polite. I've got a mid week delivery pass, which is convenient and economical for me.
The quality and range of their food is good. Though there are a few things I miss from Waitrose, I'm very happy with their partnership with M&S.

I’ve been shopping with Ocado since they started delivering here 15+ years ago. I sometimes manage without a smartpass (there used to be quite a lot of free delivery slots), but I’m back in the fold. I had a brief experiment with Morrisons when Ocado ditched Waitrose (same infrastucture and the warehouse had a good selection of ethnic stuff), but I was lured back after lockdown.

I like the fact that I don’t have to rummage through meat/bread to avoid short-dated food.

I probably get a sub/missing single item 2 or 3 times/year.

I've been with Ocado for well over a decade. I shop carefully - plenty of treats but also there are lots of Ocado own label and even M& S items that are good value/ M&S Fruit and Fibre £1:20 a box, bourbon biscuits 50p etc. I'm a bit like you with meat- I don't like cheap meat and am happy to pay a bit extra for higher quality/ welfare standards ( i'll never buy from the coop for example- where people leave the fridge doors open all day and you can't guarantee it's been refrigerated properly). Ocado have v good customer service and a reasonable minimum spend. They don't need to do many substitutions and they deliver on time. They don't always pack the bags carefully though...

@Prinknash Bag packing is one thing they have definitely deteriorated on. Used to get all the same category foods in the same bags which were colour coded if I recall. Ie. Red for bakery, green for veg (can’t remember exact colours). Now it’s alot more random, and packing has gone downhill. . Ie. Eggs put on top of pears last week.

Used them for around 12 years and very happy. Nearly always excellent quality and no quibble refund if not.
It is pricey though as very few budget lines. We spend around £150 a week for 4 of us excluding wine and pet food but including cleaning/laundry products.

We use them 3 times a month and I adore them, the range is amazing, they always refund without a problem for any issues and I don't think it costs me any more than shopping elsewhere, especially as the fruit and veg will last for weeks.
I take full advantage of the flash sales at the end of 40% off, I will add everything there into my basket search a random food and then go through the process again to get new flash sales until they stop offering anything, you can easily buy all of your meat this way.

I've been shopping with Ocado for about 19 years now. I've tried them all and they are the best of the bunch. Everything is not always perfect, but they are more perfect that any other I have tried. Substitutions are always very few and sensible, they have a wide selection of products, lots of organic and high welfare options, ocado own brand is well priced and M&S is fairly competitively priced. Nearly always on time, drivers always courteous, good updates on delivery time and shopping comes in bags so no unpacking on doorstep!

Yes I went from doing all shopping at Tesco to now getting it mostly from Ocado. The fruit and veg is much higher quality and lasts a lot longer too. With how many deliveries you have is definitely invest in a smart pass. They have lots of deals on so it works out similar spends for me even though it's stuff more expensive in Tesco

I’ve been with them from the beginning. Love them and love them even more because it means I don’t have to set foot in a physical supermarket. Never had a problem with quality or dates and it’s rare for them to have to sub stuff. I have noticed recently that stock levels have been low but generally there’s always a choice and I like the fact you can get some obscure stuff on there.

I’ve got an all singing all dancing smart pass. No idea how much it costs these days but it’s worth every penny. Our lives are quite geographically complex but wherever we are there’s always a good choice of slots.

Oh and the drivers and customer service are amazing.

Weekly Ocado shop on a Tuesday, top up shop for fruit/dog treats/weekend snacks on a Friday or Saturday at Lidl/Aldi. Have found Ocado excellent and we have tried a few new and random things from their weekly flash sales on the app. Tend to buy tins, rice, pasta from Aldi/Lidl once a month or so.
Best thing I’ve found from there is the M&S own brand shampoo and conditioner £1.50 and it’s great for my fine hair. The Ocado own brand version of Vanish is also brilliant.

Apart from the fact that their M&S stuff is more expensive than the M&S store a mile from my house, I've stopped ordering from them because, despite the bags, half my shopping always arrives squashed. It's easy enough to get a refund on the stuff you notice straight away but when you open a crumpled box of granola a week later to discover that the bag inside it has actually burst, it's much more of a clart on.

I did start to make an order in August but abandoned it when they didn't have half the stuff I wanted that I couldn't get locally in stock.

I have a waitrose delivery pass, now, so their attempts to win me back haven't reached success point, yet.

They rarely have to substitute items
but all the meat is usually short dated so I have to freeze lots (I buy for a a week). I’ve had a couple of dodgy veg items but they refund with no quibbling.

Ocado are good with refunds, I think it’s all AI generated. I had a slightly squashed birthday cake delivered costing £18, it’s shape was too bad to be able to serve and by ticking the correct box I got my money back.
