will they be hungry though? maybe a cup of tea would suffice?

franch · 03/06/2008 20:13

What a great response!

Answers: Don't know if they'll be hungry or not but when we did same to them I have a memory of them giving us something lovely and comforting but can't remember what! They're in Manchester, we're in London. Don't know what time, just that it'll be late. Friends, but not bosom buddies.

Now what to choose ......

Get some croissants and slice up some Port Salut cheese. Chop some bacon up earlier in the day and fry. Sprinkle bacon on the cheese inside the sliced croissants. When they arrive, stick in the pre-heated oven for 5 minutes.

Warm, comforting and a bit more 'visitorish' than summat on toast.

spiderbabymum · 03/06/2008 20:16

PestoMonster · 03/06/2008 20:17

ChirpyGirl · 03/06/2008 20:32

DH's best mate and his girlfriend always arrive at 11ish when they visit so we always have a ready made pizza I can shove in teh oven and some garlic bread, then they call from 10 minutes out so I can get it ready.
If they have eaten before leaving I just have chips and dip out.

PuppyMonkey · 03/06/2008 20:32

Lobster Thermidor is good or a dressed crab salad with warm parmesan croutes?

Big loaf of lovely brown malty bread, some nice cold salamis, a big hunk of mature cheddar and a bottle of red.

expatinscotland · 03/06/2008 20:38
