Awful new recipe Kellogg's All-Bran

Can anyone recommend please an alternative high fibre cereal seeing as the new recipe All-Bran is yuk? I've had Kellogg's All-Bran for nearly five decades in its original recipe and it has always made me 'go' without having to use constipation tablets, but now I'm in limbo 😱. TIA.

I also liked the 'settlement'.

"New" All Bran Tea Loaf will never be the same 😥.
Best own brand I've found is M & S.

I loved the settlement - that was the best bit imo! I'm still having ASDA's own brand.

M & S own brand has a more malty taste than the Asda one imo.

I'll give it a go. Think it's ½ a gram less in fibre, but I'm sure I won't notice the difference.

Eat some raspberries or have a psyllium husk capsule and you’ll be just fine.

Your colon might

I agree, the new recipe is awful. We couldn't eat it and put it out for the birds, but they wouldn't eat it either!

Poor birds!
I pour hot water on mine, add chopped 85 percent cocoa chocolate and milk. Makes a filling malted choc smoothie type thing.

I like the Tesco one - it's called High Fibre Bran. Prefer it to (the original) All-Bran.
I have a bowl filled with 2/3 bran and 1/3 rice snaps (Tesco rice krispies). Love it!

Try pure bran sticks https://www.buywholefoodsonline.co.uk/organic-bran-sticks.html .

Two ingredients - bran and malted barley flour, no added sugar (unlike Kelloggs, where second ingredient is sugar….)

41g fibre per 100g vs 27g in all bran
4.7g of sugar vs 18g in all bran

I LOVE them!

Tried M&S today for Bran Sticks, but they didn't have any.

What about Grape Nuts if you want high fibre?

AmethystAnnotation · 18/10/2025 16:39

Does anyone know, have the Bran Flakes gone the same way? Don't want to buy them and be disappointed.

Grape Nuts weirdly not that high in fibre compared to all bran; I thought the same, but only 12g fibre/100g vs 27g for All Bran. Bloody lovely though 😊

dementedpixie · 19/10/2025 21:16

Weetabix crunchy bran has 22g of fibre per 100g so not quite as high as the other fibre cereals but might be an alternative

FurForksSake · 19/10/2025 21:17

Crunchy bran is absolutely delicious

cuttinganotheronion · 19/10/2025 23:20

Couldn’t agree more about the new awful taste. Can’t imagine how it got past the Kelloggs taste test people (surely that job still exists) because it tastes of nothing. I have eaten this cereal for years and I’m so disappointed in the new improved version.

back to porridge for me…

KenCol · 26/10/2025 09:52

That's not All Bran it's some concoction that you can guarantee costs less to manufacture and the company try to "Con" the consumer with fancy advertising jargon. It's tasteless rubbery and doesn't absorb moisture. IT'S OFF OUR SHOPPING LIST FOR GOOD. I WILL MISS OUR ALL BRAN CAKE (HOME MADE)

Soundofsanity · 29/10/2025 09:28

The new recipe was awful and, as others have said, tastes like cheaper brands. I took the opened box back to Tesco and asked for my money back. They obliged and sent a report to the suppliers. 😅

VioletandMauve · 30/10/2025 13:31

Going against the grain here but….I LOVE the new All Bran recipe 😂 it’s crunchier, tastier and goes far less mushy!

heartybreakfast · 04/11/2025 09:26

I had no idea Kelloggs were changing the recipe until I opened a new bag. I did not enjoy it. To ruin a product and send your customers down the high street seeking an alternative is the opposite to good marketing.
Kellogg please think again and change course.

KnickerlessParsons · 04/11/2025 10:04

If you want something to help you “go” eat a few prunes every day.

NavyViewer · 04/11/2025 14:29

i can recommend the m&s bran sticks! Agree new Kelloggs version is horrible

onail · 07/11/2025 21:48

The new recipe has the texture and taste of cheerios, and is just as effective as cheerios in helping you 'go'. It's bulkier with less fibre content. Having worked in the food industry, am only too aware that 'new and improved' points to cheaper ingredients and shortcuts for greater profits and nothing else unfortunately.

user1471867483 · 08/11/2025 18:48

I got the M&S bran sticks yesterday. They're nice and soft. It could be a stronger maltier taste for my liking, but they're way better than the new Kellogg's one!

“New” and “improved” all-bran. Hmmmm
who asked for this “improvement”?
why can’t they leave things alone?
so now after 50+yrs I have had to change to:
4 parts Sainsbury’s higher fibre
4 parts crunch bran
2 parts alpen
pre mixed in a large Tupperware, shake before serving!

from the shortages of crunchy bran, suspect a lot of people switching to this….

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 09/11/2025 10:38

They use 'improved' to justify cost cutting and say things like 'we've improved the texture' or 'improves keeping capabilities and shelf life'. Never improves the taste though, does it?
