Awful new recipe Kellogg's All-Bran

Can anyone recommend please an alternative high fibre cereal seeing as the new recipe All-Bran is yuk? I've had Kellogg's All-Bran for nearly five decades in its original recipe and it has always made me 'go' without having to use constipation tablets, but now I'm in limbo 😱. TIA.

I agree, the new recipe is awful. We couldn't eat it and put it out for the birds, but they wouldn't eat it either!

CalzoneOnLegs · 18/09/2025 18:27

What have they done ? it used to be nice with a malty taste

They have a new recipe. Disgusting. On trustpilot they have loads of one star reviews too.🤦

Oh yes the dreaded ‘new recipe’ or ‘Improved recipe’ claim

everything has gone downhill, mcvities digestives taste of nothing these days

CalzoneOnLegs · 18/09/2025 18:36

What about the Bran Flakes? They ‘used’ to be okay last time I tasted them

dementedpixie · 18/09/2025 18:37

My ds eats the fake Asda brand all bran. Think it's called high bran

Thank you 😍, but the fibre is too low. It has to be at least 26g.

In the meantime you could try adding flaxseed, linseed, chia seeds to a meal daily. Or take psyllium husk

I totally agree, the new All Bran is awful. I have been buying this for over 30 years, paying the premium price for the best, being Kellogg's. It now looks, tastes and feels like the cheaper supermarket versions. If this is the best recipe that Kellogg's can now give us then I will NOT be paying the higher price and will be changing to the less costly versions, even though I'm not a fan of those either 😔

Well, it's their loss because we simply won't be buying it. I have found one though in ASDA (their own make) of All-Bran (high bran I think it's called) which has the equal 26g of fibre. It's not as nice as the original Kellogg's, but is better than the new recipe Kellogg's and it does 'help' in that 'area' if you get my meaning!!

Wow, they found a way to make All-Bran EVEN WORSE?!

Same here. I tried all the own brand versions and they were not the same. Now the original is identical to the own brand. They claim it's to eliminate waste - presumably the dust in the bottom. I'd rather keep the dust. All bran is the ONLY thing that works for me. All your chia seeds, psyllium etc, none of them have the same effect. Bran flakes are a poor second best

Iusedtosleepbeforehavingkids · 29/09/2025 10:10

Just opened my first box of the dreaded new recipe all bran yesterday and it was horrible, as you say tasted just like the cheaper supermarket alternatives (I tried only one before and did not like it so went back to the Kelloggs but I may have to just move to that now, why pay a premium for something that is no better)
When they did this to special k years ago I switched and never brought another box. I loved the malty tasty of the original but then they changed the recipe and I switched to Morrisons own brand special flakes which were much closer to the original.
So it seems the Asda version are the one to try now instead of Kelloggs.
It

Boxes of original All Bran now going for seven pounds fifty on amazon. I've got a stockpile but it'll run out in the new year. Hopefully by then Kellogs will see sense!

FurForksSake · 01/10/2025 10:31

This seems to be the 2025 version of new coke!

There does seem to be two types now, original and fibre plus, is fibre plus just becoming the only one available?

Crunchy bran has only a small amount less fibre (have some raspberries with it) and is tasty still!

And I used to like the powdered 'settlement' at the bottom of the pack. Shame really.

I was coming to recommend the supermarket versions as they are less sugary than Kellogs but it seems people are not a fan. I can't tell any difference between Asda, Waitrose or M&S own brands but all are much less sweet than Kellogs.

Balgreen · 04/10/2025 19:25

What on earth have Kellogg’s done to “improve” their All Bran recipe??? I’ve eaten the cereal for YEARS and the new recipe is awful!!! Please change it back or I’ll switch to another non-Kellogg cereal!!

Kenp1958 · 09/10/2025 20:00

Lucky you. A box on e bay is now £14

What have they actually done to the ingredients? It would be interesting to compare the ingredients lists on the back, old Vs new?

Greysowhat · 12/10/2025 20:23

Sainsburys version of All bran is pretty good.

Footle · 12/10/2025 22:51

@Greysowhat, I think Sainsbury’s is a bit grim.

I also liked the 'settlement'.

"New" All Bran Tea Loaf will never be the same 😥.
Best own brand I've found is M & S.

Oh no! I might be missing out on better ones so. Might try the M&S which is the same price as Sainsbury's now they've raised the price over the last couple of years from £1.20 for 700g to £2 for 500 g.
