Years ago when I was in the canary islands I would get small potatoes with mojo sauce. I've never seen it on menus since. I adored it and often thought about it.
I vaguely remember trying make it a long time ago but it wasn't the same. Anyway today I found a recipe that sounded promising. And it's spot on! Gave some roast new potatoes and mojo sauce to dh and he was blown away.

I'm so happy 😊
Downside is it has a lot of EVOO in it. But that's good for you right?

@DollopOfFun yes people did used to cook veg to a mush. Some still do.

I was talking to a friend about this. I had to persuade my mom.that cabbage didn't take ages to cook.

First time I had Vitello Tonnato in a small family-run restaurant down a narrow alley in Stresa. We were on holiday, I cannot have been older than 12 or 13. Heavenly. I did learn to make it myself eventually.
Eating boeuf bourguignon at a small restaurant in a village square in Burgundy. We had stayed in the village many times and I was doing a "walk down memory lane" trip. The brilliant thing was, it tasted exactly like my own version, talk about happy!
The smell of home-made Cornish pasties baking in the oven. Reminds me of my childhood and the "right" smell is the only way I can tell that they are going to be good.

I just googled Vitello tonnato. I must admit it sounds unappealing.

Early 1960’s when I was 5 an unknown adult took me to a 1960’s Milk Bar, sat me on a high stool and ordered a raspberry chocolate milkshake, the flavour was exquisite, never been able to replicate it.

The RAF kitchens did a fantastic chicken curry in the 1970’s - again can’t replicate it.

Memories of sitting on the French Atlantic coast somewhere remote with nothing more than freshly cooked king prawns, mayo and a baguette.

Cycling the Brittany coast, stopping at a greengrocer for bags of apricots, peas in the pod and cherries, sitting on rocks for a picnic and nothing tasted better.
