What is your favourite Sunday pudding after roast?

Trying to decide what pudding(s) to make after a roast beef dinner for a group of friends.

What would you be most delighted to see on the table after lunch? Mx of women and men, all 50-70 age range.

Chocolate torte/mousse and berries
Tirimisu
Eton mess or pavlova once the strawbugs are in season

I know the presumption is everyone will be full but remember everyone has a special pudding sector in their stomachs.

Crumble, fresh fruit pavlova and a cheeseboard. Easy to make in advance.

saveforthat · 30/03/2025 15:49

Well, imo you can't beat apple pie with a choice of custard cream or ice cream. I find chocolate puddings like brownies too much after a roast, same with sticky toffee pudding. Trifle also good.

shellyleppard · 30/03/2025 15:49

Apple pie ❤️❤️❤️ rhubarb crumble ❤️❤️❤️❤️

SweetBaklava · 30/03/2025 15:50

Sticky Toffee with vanilla ice-cream 🥰

Snorlaxo · 30/03/2025 15:51

Crumble
Easy to customize if there’s anyone with allergies

InSpainTheRain · 30/03/2025 16:05

Eton mess or stewed black cherries with hot choc sauce (like black forest gateaux but without the cake!)

Pascha · 30/03/2025 16:09

My mum would appreciate something meringuey with cream and fruit. Dad would prefer to have cheese or just refuse.

Neither would choose a hot or heavy pudding.

waltzingparrot · 30/03/2025 16:10

Lemon posset with blueberries

Onlyonekenobe · 30/03/2025 16:16

A traditional pudding, with custard. Crumble, steamed sponge, sticky toffee, pie etc.

JacketPotatoAvecFromage · 30/03/2025 16:18

Apple crumble and custard please!! 😆

Tomatocutwithazigzagedge · 30/03/2025 16:19

Gooseberry crumble and clotted cream

Derrymum123 · 30/03/2025 16:19

Spotted Dick and custard.

EwwSprouts · 30/03/2025 16:19

Apple & blackberry crumble, no cinnamon, with ice-cream.

TurnThatLightOn · 30/03/2025 16:19

Eton mess or trifle

ExtraDecluttering · 30/03/2025 16:19

Definitely something light like pavlova not hot custardy puddings. I'd be too full for those, I like them but only after a light meal. I'm not used to eating a big cooked meal in the middle of the day.

chattyness · 30/03/2025 16:20

Apple crumble or baked syrup sponge with custard, tiramisu, lemon meringue pie Bakewell Tart & custard. Queen of puddings

vendredinamechange · 30/03/2025 16:24

In order of preference - all home made: Sherry trifle. New York baked cheesecake with fresh berries. Baked Alaska. Fruit Salad.

TheChosenTwo · 30/03/2025 16:26

Lemon posset and tiramisu are what we have on offer tonight after dinner. Dh made the tiramisu, dc2 made the posset. We are 16 for dinner this evening so needed a couple of options. There are also scones in case anyone fancies that instead or in addition.
my stepdad will definitely have all 3 after a massive roast. No idea where he puts it tbh!

oviraptor21 · 30/03/2025 16:28

A traditional roast dinner goes best with a traditional pudding.
Bread and butter pudding
Spotted dick
Syrup sponge
Chocolate fudge sponge

If I know that's on the menu I'll make room for it.

evtheria · 30/03/2025 16:28

A good pavlova, or Eton mess
Tiramisu
creme caramel/flan

KnickerFolder · 30/03/2025 16:50

Definitely not crumble or pie, far too heavy IMO.

Something lighter with fruit for me, please! Eton Mess, Pavlova, trifle, the Ivy’s frozen berries with hot chocolate sauce thingamajig or even just strawberries and cream/ice cream.

That said, a PP mentioned Black Forest gateau. That would be a great retro Sunday roast choice. Rich but not heavy.

A cheese board with grapes and figs is always nice to have as an alternative to pudding for those who don’t have a sweet tooth or as well as pudding.

stargirl1701 · 30/03/2025 16:53

Eve’s pudding

Bread and butter pudding

Hotafternoon · 30/03/2025 17:01

Depending how big the roast was, apple and blackberry pie with custard and cream but if a bit on the full side, creme caramel or raspberry Panna cotta

GoodVibesHere · 30/03/2025 17:06

Profiteroles for me
