This makes no sense to me.

I think 1 tablespoon is 25g, so 250g.

i usually ask Siri to covert measurements or find a similar recipe and see what they say!

HelpMeGetThrough · 23/03/2025 08:18

141.8 g

soupyspoon · 23/03/2025 08:29

Ok so two wildly varying results here!!!

According to Google 1 tablespoon of butter is 14g so now I'm even more confused at the varying responses!

HundredAcreOwl · 23/03/2025 08:32

Is that 10 tbsp cubed? I've not come across cubed for tbsp before... What's the recipe for?

HelpMeGetThrough · 23/03/2025 08:34

10 tablespoons of cubed butter.

Sunwarddangledhardens · 23/03/2025 08:36

I imagine it’s supposed to be “take 10 tbsp of butter and then cube it”. I work on 15g for a tbsp, so 150g.

DoNoTakeNo · 23/03/2025 08:36

What’s the rest of the recipe?
(knowing the context & ratios may help)

Girlintheframe · 23/03/2025 08:36

I tbsp is approx 15g so I would go for 150g total.

According to Google, 1tbsp is 14.175g. So 10 of those would be 141.75g rounded would be 141.8g.
Googling the exact question gives you 141.8g the same as the PP said.
I'd probably go for 150g for arguments sake, seems like a sensible amount 😂

1 tablespoon = 14.175g
10 tablespoons = 141.75g

I rounded it.

Hate american recipes. But I was googling and want to use up some fancy milk Ive got and this seems to be the one that uses the most. I dont want a milk drizzle like lots of other milk cakes Ive found

PutitDownandReadaBook · 23/03/2025 08:39

Edited

More butter is better, so 150g I agree

Also, gatecrashing my own thread, what is a cup of butter?

Surely you’ve got a tablespoon? Weigh one tablespoon of butter then multiply that by 10.

CaptainMyCaptain · 23/03/2025 08:40

A tablespoon is usually 15g. A teaspoon is 5g.

Its 5/8 of a cup.
Bloody American recipes.

That is for flour so butter would not be the same.

So gouge out an irrelgular unnecessary chunk of butter, messing up both spoon and butter and scales when I put my buttery spoon on, what a faff.

Plus my issue is that I have a cooking 'tablespoon' and measuring spoons my measuring spoons are plastic and probably wont stand up to being forced to gouge out hard butter to .

I could use my big cooking metal tablespoon but this is much bigger than the traditional measuring spoon spoon

One cup of butter is about 227g according to Google, which is what I use.

In America, butter comes in sticks. Each stick is a half cup of butter and comes with markings to cut it for smaller measurements. So while it’s complicated to use a cup of butter in the UK, in America people would know to simply use two sticks of butter.

DoNoTakeNo · 23/03/2025 08:56

The recipe asks for “10 tbsp butter, cubed”.
The cube reference is erroneous, it is after it is weighed & is just to ease melting into the warming milk.

So 150g butter, then chopped up.

SomeKindOfMeh · 23/03/2025 09:08

I was being soooo thick!! Sorry! 25g is an ounce, not a tablespoon. A tablespoon is 15g.

this might explain my recent weight gain. 🤔
