For me it would be prawns, beetroot or anything flavoured with honey.

When I was 18 I hated seafood and was invited to a party where the food being served was cajun cuisine. Out of politness I ate the seafood gumbo and red mullet that was served up. I don't think it was politeness however when I asked for seconds .

Nowadays I would have to say no to beetroot and not much else!

Green peppers and raw tomatoes.

I really don't like creamy white wine sauces, but I will force some down if served at a dinner party.

VictorianSqualor · 12/05/2008 17:50

Fish of any sort, dodgy cheese, mushrooms, liver, eggs.

brightwell · 12/05/2008 18:48

Meat, fruit salad with banana's, any thing that has a chocolate & banana combination, bread & butter pudding.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 12/05/2008 18:49

peas

TeenyTinyTorya · 12/05/2008 18:50

anything raw - sushi etc
seafood other than fish
stuff with vinegar in - salad dressing, beetroot, pickles, etc.

FAWKEOFF · 12/05/2008 18:52

trifle
caviar
oysters
squid
liver
pumkin
butternut squash
rice pudding
tofu

Desiderata · 12/05/2008 18:53

Marshmallows.

Round my way, that's the sort of stuff they'd dish up at a 'dinner party.'

And any Chinese dessert .. they are totally foul.

LynetteScavo · 12/05/2008 18:59

Oh yeah, kerryMum, I really hate it when people serve monkey brains, especially when they bring the monkey in live and take out the brains in front of you.

The worst thing I've had to force down at a dinner party was raw egg wrapped in ham, set in masses of gelatine. It was in Paris, so is probably quite normal there, and I'veno idea what it's called.

Thankfully I've never been given oysters, as I really couldn't.

I did enjoy a meal at a friend of my grandmothers once, when I was 12,and readily accepted when offered seconds. When the host had trotted off for my second helping, my cousin pointed to me that it was infact tongue. Funnily enough, I really couldn't eat anymore.

ChicaLovesHerLocalGreengrocer · 12/05/2008 19:08

I think that now I would eat pretty much everything. Even most offal, as long as it's well cooked, eg steak and kidney pie.

However, a quivering, pan fried for a second foie was a no no at New Year. Luckily, it was at an old friend's house, so I didn't feel bad. I am actually so polite that I would have eaten it if I really had had to!

Aspic jelly

PestoMonster · 12/05/2008 20:19

blancmange
rice pudding
creme caramel
liver
offal

lovecat · 12/05/2008 20:43

Most offal (don't mind foie gras or tongue) and chicken's feet, otherwise I will happily eat most things and can manage things I wouldn't choose to eat (sweetcorn, celery, puy lentils, blancmange) out of politeness.

Oh! And that godawful stuff in Dim Sum restaurants that looks like sausage rolls of white jelly quivering around gelatinous meat... tried it once out of curiousity (not even the guy pushing it around on the trolley could explain what it tasted like) and OMG it was vomitous!

DiscoDizzy · 12/05/2008 20:45

brussel sprouts, liver, kidney and faggots (pinched from someone elses list).
I'm sure there's more.

LaDiDaDi · 12/05/2008 20:45

Meat or fish as I'm vegetarian.

Eggs or mushrooms as I'm a pita !

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 12/05/2008 20:47

Cou**tes

Related to the marrow....

I can not even type the word, my stomach heaves over.

cariboo · 12/05/2008 20:50

I'm a dreadful fusspot but...
boiled eggs or anything too eggy
sardines & any fish that tastes like fish
peas, peanuts (fair dues as am allergic)
overcooked veg
brains, tripe, liver - awful offal!
bad cooking

I would never actually admit to not liking something (too rude) but would find a way of not eating it.

Appalling, amn't i?

MrsMuddle · 12/05/2008 21:23

I could eat everything that's been mentioned already, but I couldn't eat marzipan if my life depended on it. Devil's food. Give me raw kangaroo bollocks and fish eyes any day!

Brangelina · 12/05/2008 21:28

Cooked celery
One particular type of seaweed (can't remember the name) as it is really too fishy
Anything that tastes of aniseed, apart from, curiously, fennel.
Anything slimy that slithers down

Oh, and meat and fish as I'm vegetarian.

bluefox · 12/05/2008 21:35

Dont eat meat. Love cheese but cannot eat anything cheese flavoured eg cheese n onion crisps or cheesy crackers etc

katwith3kittens · 12/05/2008 21:43

Anchovies. Yuk.

but love goats cheese and aubergines, especially those slippery chargrilled ones frizzled in oil. Yummmm.

jaynz · 12/05/2008 21:45

offal - just that smell...

whats faggots? I thought it was an incredibly un-pc, derogatory term for gay men and also a piece of wood, so the thought of someone eating either is a bit confusing!
