Recipes that don't require an oven

My oven has broke and I am looking for some tasty dinner recipes that don't require oven use. The only other appliances I have are a gas hob and microwave. Anything other than pasta or stir-fries please. Inspire me..

Everything apart from the shepherds pie sounds great, I like a crispy potato topping!

You can crisp the top with the grill, unless the grill is in the top of the broken oven.

Do you have some old blankets or duvets? You could use your oven as a hay box. Put the ingredients for a stew in a pan with a lid, add boiling water, wrap in a duvet and put in the non working oven.

Pieces of meat or fish can be wrapped in foil and put in a steamer above a pan you are cooking rice or potatoes in if you need room.

I just noticed you have a slow cooker. Get that out and stick a chicken in it. Or a joint of lamb, trust me you will never cook lamb the same way again.

You don't need to add anything to it but you can if you want.

I love this

Very adaptable, can vary the veg and/or meat to what's about to go off available, just one pot + one for pasta/rice/spuds.

I made this today and added some boiled new potatoes, it was absolutely divine 😍

I barely use my oven!

Stovetop family meals;

Chilli
Bolognese
Curries, dal
Sausage or bacon & lentil stew/soup
Chickpea & chorizo stew/soup
Minestrone
Loads of other soups (if just a veg soup, have with bread and ham/cheese/pate to make more of a meal)
Quesadillas
Fajitas
Pan fried piece of fish or meat with veg & potatoes or rice. Various sauces
Fried up mediterranean veg, cous cous, fried halloumi
Risotto
Sausages (fried - ok this is messy) and mash
Omelettes
Any kind of salad - look for substantial whole meal salads with beans/chickpeas, new potatoes, nuts, cheese etc
