Heinz a very inferior brand and a rip off

There are more people that have woken up to discover Heinz products are not brilliant products and complete rip offs.

I find all Heinz products not pleasant at all. Beans - loads of bean skins and sauce is ikky. Ketchup - too acidic. Soup too salty and unpleasant after taste.

Heinz soup is £1.70 a can when its not on offer - a bloody rip off when supermarket own version I can buy 3 cans of theirs for about another 30-40p more and much nicer.

I reckon many who buy Heinz products have never bought and tried cheaper alternatives. The slogan "It has to be Heinz" are duping the ignorant to buy their inferior products.

YOU find their products unpalatable
Plenty of people don’t and by them

I used to love Heinz products growing up, the beans, ketchup, and soups were lovely. As an adult, I found that they did not taste as nice, and stopped buying soups, and beans years ago. I have also discontinued buying their brand of ketchup, which is very overpriced for what it is. I am now an avid fan of Stokes ketchup.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 13/07/2024 13:22

Their tomato soup is awful now, m&s basic stuff is half the price and lovely.
Heinz ketchup is rubbish now too, Stokes however is fantastic stuff.
Heinz are junk now Kraft has bought them.

Crinklycrisp · 13/07/2024 13:25

There is no substitute for Heinz salad cream.

StormingNorman · 13/07/2024 13:27

Wilkins tomato ketchup is a game changer. The salad cream is unbeatable though.

I buy the M&S salad cream, just as good imo, and not as expensive.

summeroccupation · 13/07/2024 13:28

Crikey. You must have a good life if this is the worst thing in it!

Nope. Tried that. Nowhere near as good as Heinz.

Two Heinz products l really love and don't like alternatives are Mayo... and Honey and Mustard dressing .( l have to buy the dressing on line.. hardly and stores stock it).
Autistic Grandsons know the difference on other makes of mayo.

Agree with this.

So much sauce in their crappy beans. M&S ones are brilliant (and only 25p for a small tin, 45p I think for large) Branston are also lovely, with more beans / less sauce for your pennies. Also agree about M&S tomato soup. 65p I think it is. Can't say fairer than that.

Stokes ketchup, or if I'm feeling flash, Mr Organic ketchup (often on offer at Waitrose)

Might have to agree with pp about only Heinz Salad Cream though.

DinnaeFashYersel · 13/07/2024 13:34

I'm currently eating a bowl of Heinz raviolis and enjoying it.

I have tried cheaper own brand products over the years ( am old enough to have had a mortgage when rates went up to 17% and had a family of five to feed) and although some were OK, I did find some unpalatable. Some beans had sauce that was very runny, also soups with fewer chunks in or less flavour so I went back to Heinz or other more expensive brands for some products.

I prefer Heinz for beans, soup, salad cream and tomato sauce but am happy with Tesco brand for cranberry sauce, tinned tuna, horseradish sauce and other condiments, spices etc. I usually buy own brand cleaning products and toilet paper though.

My family have flown the nest and money is no longer tight so I don’t worry about my supermarket bills but I still object to paying more than I have to for certain brands - but I don’t buy cheap if I don’t like their version.

Suzieandthemonkeyfeet · 13/07/2024 13:42

I have tried cheaper and it’s shite.

Was shocked at the sugar content of Aldi beans!

Ihateslugs · 13/07/2024 13:43

I should add that I have mobility problems and cannot walk far enough to food shop in person so have all my shopping delivered. I stick to one shop, Tesco, for everything as I’m used to their things and am rarely disappointed. But it does restrict me trying different own brands, I used to buy quite a few things from M&S but it’s just easier to stick to Tesco now. I miss the choice in M& S though, especially their deli counters and bakery.

LittleGreenDragons · 13/07/2024 13:44

I've never liked their beans. Both Asda and Sainsburys beans are very good (and Sainsburys Hoops).

Only Heinz Salad Cream and Ketchup are allowed in this house, all others have been tested and rejected.

RainintheDesert · 13/07/2024 13:46

The Heinz pasta sauces are nice.

But everything else tastes cheap and overpriced.

I love M&S beans too, and will eat Sainsbury's ones as well (only because it's my nearest supermarket).

Del Monte Ketchup is nice, and cheaper.

There are only two good things from tins: Heinz beans, oh the irony, and anything with Mutti on it.

It’s all downhill from there.

Other than spaghetti hoops we buy all condiments, beans and soup from M&S now. Cheaper and British made. Well ketchup, mayo, salad cream and brown sauce. Stokes is the best for tartare sauce.

Their time of pulses are great value and tins of chopped tomatoes too.

DD said she only likes Heinz tomato soup but didn't realise when I swapped it for M&S.

AngryLikeHades · 13/07/2024 17:11

I have a theory that Heinz is having to advertise now and is introducing new products because people are buying it less due to budgeting issues.
I've never bought it, but they have now began making pasta sauce and other items that didn't exist before.
There are some brands that don't advertise/do so very little because people have them as staples in their cupboard and have always bought them. They brands are so renowned that they don't bother.
I saw a Heinz advert on the TV and I've never seen that before.

Crinklycrisp · 13/07/2024 17:30

Heinz have always advertised, Don't you remember Beans means Heinz?

I don't really like home brand beans, or bullet beans as they are known in my house, but I do prefer Branston beans to Heinz.
