Hi,
Wondering if people can throw their favourite recipes at me that use beef mince! I always make the same dinners with minced beef so looking for something new I've not tried before.

The usual things I make with it are:

Bolognase
Cottage pie
Lasagne
Spicy beef tacos
Chilli con Carne
Meatballs/burgers

So anything not on that list would be great.
Ta!

When I was a student many moons ago I used to fry and flavour it up with onions and curry powder, garlic and chilli powder and fresh or tinned tomatoes , simmer until it thickens.Serve with rice.
It was banging 🙂
I've since come across Keema curry and it's similar.

Dandan noodles - I use a jamie Oliver recipe I have tried too Google one similar and most recipes seem to use pork mince but the one I use is beef mince.

Also, meatball pasta bake, we don't add mushrooms I use slightly more mince approx 375g, and add mozzarella and it really adds to the texture.

I’ve just made a lovely shepherds pie. I’ve loads of mince in gravy with peas and carrots in left over. I was planning on freezing it and doing some more mash for another one in the future - or does anyone have any other ideas for things I could do?

School pie.
Fry beef with finely diced onions, mushrooms, bit of thyme, worcester sauce, Add some water and beef gravy granules to make a thick sauce.

Bake 10cm squares of shortcrust or puff pastry in the oven. Put them on top of the minced beef as if it was pie. That's what they did in our school when I was young and I still miss it. If you like soggy pastry let it sit a while, if you like it crisp, flip it off. Serve with carrots, peas and broccoli.

Or cook with smoky paprika, sweetcorn, tomatoes, onions, garlic, green peppers. Put inside soft tortilla, fold it, grate cheese on top and bake.

Or fry with onions, garlic, mushrooms, chopped cashews, any herbs you like, add some cooked brown rice, stir together and use as filling for stuffed peppers, stuffed marrow or pumpkin. Breadcrumbs and grated cheese on top if you like.

When you make your bolognaise sauce, double or triple the recipe and use the other portions to make....
moussaka,
pasta bake with spirals or bows,

to fill baked stuffed vegetables such as peppers, round courgettes, small marrows etc, add some rice to the meat sauce before stuffing the vegetables,
stuff, roll then bake cabbage leaves,

I make something that's called Texas Hash. The recipe came from an old 80's mince book.

Brown 500g mince with some garlic. Add it to a casserole dish with 85g of rice, a chunky chopped onion and green pepper, a tin of chopped toms, a couple of tbs of tomato purée and 1-2tsp of chilli powder to taste. Cover and cook at 180' for about an hour.

It's like an all in one chilli that's drier, so perfect in a pitta or taco shells topped with Greek yoghurt and grated cheese

GerbilsForever24 · 23/05/2024 22:52

Lots of great ideas on here.

We use pork or beef mince and stir fry it with lots and lots of veggies, garlic, ginger and chilli (usually do mince separately to veg as otherwise not enough space then mix together at the end) and flavour with lime juice, a bit of sugar (optional) and soy sauce and serve on noodles.

Also, google recipes for Philly cheese steak pasta. I did one a few years ago and DS loved it. It wasn't my favourite so I haven't done it again but it was a good choice.

The fakeaway doner kebab is good. I usually use lamb mince but I have tried it with beef and it works well. You basically mix up a load of spices or you can buy a sachet of doner kebab seasoning. Mix with the mince and roll into a sort of meat loaf shape. Wrap tightly in foil. You can put it slow cooker, oven or air fryer. Then slice thinly and serve in pitta with salad, chilli sauce etc
