Gratin dauphinois, green beans, mint sauce...

We had lamb last weekend (tip, purchase in Dec when Tesco is doing it half price - can't afford/justify it otherwise)

I roast it slowly with rosemary, garlic, mint and honey - makes the gravy taste divine.

Roasties
Carrots
Sweetheart cabbage
Mashed Swede
Fine green beans
tenderstem broccoli

Rowan jelly
Lemon glazed carrots
Home made mint sauce

DifficultBloodyWoman · 24/03/2024 05:43

I NEED petit pois and mint sauce.

Anything else is a nice to have, usually carrots for colour, and sprouts because I like them.

Green beans are a must have in this house with lamb - don't ask why, just is!

Then something orangey (carrots, roast squash, swede) or any combination thereof.

Cauliflower cheese if a special occasion or had the time for a regular meal.

I love white cabbage with a roast but not many people agree with me!

I agree Yorkshires can go with any roast - we even had them with chicken at home. Suspect because we couldn't afford lots of meat and they are filling but I'm not complaining!

My Mum always made a mint and lettuce sauce with lamb - I know it wounds weird but definitely worth a try. Only just realised it's a regional thing, explains why people look at me blankly when I mention it. see here

And lashings of gravy

I love home made mint sauce with lamb, and it’s amazing on spring greens, those really dark leaves not cabbage!, and I love roast lamb in the summer with mint sauce and new potatoes/carrots/runner beans all fresh from the garden
