Which air fryer?

WarriorN · 10/10/2023 16:14

I have no idea where to start!

Would love to be able to cook some meat and veg / chips / homemade chips at the same time.

Easy Things for kids is main priority.

I suppose a roast chicken would be a bonus

Any suggestions?

Things like chicken pieces , fish etc.

Ninja duo. By far my favourite thing I've ever bought.

WarriorN · 10/10/2023 16:46

Is that the one with the two drawers?

OP posts:
ChesapeakeBay · 10/10/2023 18:22

Definitely get a two drawer one. You need bigger than you think.

There's lots on Amazon prime deals today/tomorrow

meatbaseddessert · 10/10/2023 18:43

Why a two drawer one over an 'oven' style one? Surely it means you can't cook pizzas in them? Roast pots? Yorkshires? A cauliflower cheese? I can only get my head around the drawer ones being useful for e.g chicken nuggets and chips which we don't eat.

I cook a full roast in mine every Sunday. The only thing I use my over for is pizza, as it doesn't fit.

I made shepherd's pie in it yesterday, Mac and cheese last week.

It's really versatile.

@egowise thoughts on the size? Was going for the normal size 7.5 but now wondering about the 9l.

Family of 4; smaller one does say can cater to 8 (some how!)

Yes, hoping for an Amazon deal!

I have the standard and I cook a full medium chicken in one basket.

I did not know there was a bigger one!? Is this a ninja?

WarriorN · 11/10/2023 07:15

There's a slightly larger one capacity wise but not much bigger in actual size. But more expensive, especially on prime deals.

150 vs 119 yesterday.

I keep swinging between the two!

I was given a ninja dual drawer as a birthday present from my parents. Not sure why exactly but it has proven excellent. Obviously I didn’t choose it but having two different cooking zones is extremely useful. The match and sync functions are great. I think we have the middle size one and are two adults, dc are 12 & 8.

I would consider height and size of the machine for storage purposes.

If you can store the bigger one then get it! I resisted one for years because like a pp I thought they were for chicken nuggets and chips, then did my research! We use it ALL the time (the ninja 400), I can roast a 2kg chicken in 1 drawer and the potatoes in the other…Anything I’d put in the oven, I do in the AF. It’s also great for a lot of things you’d grill, bacon is to DIE for! I even bake in mine. Definitely not a purchase I regret!

Takoneko · 11/10/2023 07:35

Get the bigger one. I hesitated but am really glad I got the big two drawer one. I use it pretty much every day. Anything I’d usually bake in the oven or grill goes in the air fryer. I’ve even made cakes in it and it does a really good job on them.

I made a roast dinner in it this weekend. Potatoes in one drawer, joint of meat in the other. Then did Yorkshire puddings and some tenderstem broccoli when the meat came out to rest.

Which air fryer?
Ladyofthelake53 · 11/10/2023 07:57

Got it direct from Lakeland £99

drivinmecrazy · 11/10/2023 08:02

I've got the ninja dual 9L and it's been a revelation.
We've also got the racks so you can double up in each draw so can cook 4 different things.
DD2 went away to uni last month and we sent her with a small ninja. Has been a godsend for her as a non cook.
She can whip up roasted vegetables and chicken breast (& microwave rice!) and many many more stuff. She'd be starving without it 😂

I definitely want two drawers; the difference in size is really only 3.5 cm

The main reason I would like one is specifically to be able to eat veg and meat in a healthier way, less fried when we do. And mainly as that's the kind of non processed food the kids currently like. (They've both been a bit on the fussy side; don't really do stews and spag Bol etc - textures.) I'm a big fan of roast veg too.

QVC currently have this 2 drawer Ninja on offer, with the possibility of splitting the payment over several months. I have an older version of this and love it.

Our machine size is great - our neighbours somehow bought one too high to fit on their worktop under wall cupboards. I also have an ice cream maker whose freezable bowl is too big for all but one freezer drawer!

That one has a temperature gauge

Foodie max grill. Drawer airfryers are over rated, more to clean.

either way 9l is the way to go for a family of 4

LegoClone · 11/10/2023 08:59

It's the AF400UK that I have - I'm not convinced that the temperature probe version would be worth paying extra for, but the QVC deal makes it cheaper than the AF400UK and AF300UK from almost all sellers.

I find the air fryer drawers less of a pain to clean than the trays and pans I used to use in the oven. One of these days I might get around to buying some silicone liners for it...
