Which air fryer?

WarriorN · 10/10/2023 16:14

I have no idea where to start!

Would love to be able to cook some meat and veg / chips / homemade chips at the same time.

Easy Things for kids is main priority.

I suppose a roast chicken would be a bonus

Any suggestions?

That's why it's a great deal right now Lego

The 300 is £20 less on Amazon than the qvc, the 400 is £50 moreStar

I bought the ninja 2 drawer 9L two weeks ago and have barely used my oven since. I've roasted chicken breasts in it and they were hands down far nicer than in the oven. Last night we had jacket potatoes with lovely crispy skins in one drawer and chicken strips in the other. It was lovely. It's super easy to use and so fast. The only downside is they are bulky and there is a bit of a noise but they are minor compared to the benefits.

GingerIsBest · 11/10/2023 11:18

I have the single drawer Ninja one and love it. I thought it was too small to roast a whole chicken in but I'm starting to rethink that - fr some reason I thought there needed to be a lot of space around it but that doesn't seem to the case so I'll be experimenting.

Now that I have it, if I had the space, I'd consider a bigger dual drawer one. To be honest, I'm still considering it! Grin Just have to figure out what I can move around to make it happen plus not sure I can justify the cost at this time. Maybe next year!

The biggest advantage for me is speed. Especially as DD is a bit of a fussy eater - so we can whip her chicken breasts or sausages up quickly, or I can make roast potatoes in half an hour or whatever, in a way that isn't an option with a proper oven.

Roussette · 11/10/2023 21:23

Can I ask... do you microwave the jacket potatoes first, or just put them in and cook them straight off?

I usually half microwave and half oven my jackets. And I'm waiting delivery for the QVC offer ninja!

Isthiscorrect · 11/10/2023 21:41

@egowise cut your pizza before you put it in the ninja. Absolute game changer.

I usually make 2 at once, and I have the extra shelves, still not big enough for us, but ONLY for pizza.

It makes PERFECT crackling.

Made Macaroni cheese again this evening 😂

I don't make full jackets. But uncut baby potatoes cook fully within 25 mins and they are lovely!

@WarriorN

i only bought mine a few months ago. I'd said I didn't want one because if several reasons, but it has been a game changer!

im vegetarian & a low carber, I haven't once needed or wanted to use my oven since I got it.

i have the Sur La Table from Costco. It's a compact size for its capacity. It cooks so quickly & no need for 'heating up' (like the oven).

I cook FROZEN Cauldron vegetarian sausages in less time than defrosted ones in the oven.

I love the air fryer veggies as much as roasting them in the oven..

it's brilliant for garlic bread, Yorkshire puddings, & obviously chips! (I have visitors!!)

the thing I love most is having 'roast' veg or veggie sausages without feeling guilty for putting the oven on!

id go for the largest volume you can fit on your worktop. Frankly, for me, it's too big (and too often used) to get out/put away all the time, for me it needs to stay out (mine is a good size for that)

caringcarer · 11/10/2023 22:24

I've got the Tefal 9.1 litre one. It has 2 sections but the separator can be removed to cook a whole large chicken. You might get it on the Amazon Prime deals today. It's great for frozen oven chips or hash browns in one section and sausages, fish fingers or chicken nuggets in other side. I've also cooked gammon steaks and whole pieces of fish and pork chops in it. All lovely. It's quicker than using the oven and it turns itself off.

Half nuke then finish in the airfryer.

I'm not patient enough to wait 40+ minutes for the AF.

MyCatHasStaff · 12/10/2023 16:18

@LegoClone Thank you for that QVC link - I've just ordered one!

MyOtherNameToday · 18/10/2023 11:57

Has anyone got the 2 drawer one that is actually one big drawer with a divider? I'm tempted by it!

Also can you really bake in them? I would love to be able to make bread or loaf cakes.

peachescariad · 18/10/2023 12:02

The Ninja Duel 9.5L - complete game changer. Never expected to use it so much. Also now use these paper disposable liners which save on cleaning.

WarriorN · 18/10/2023 12:11

Oh amazing timing as was just googling those!

I got the qvc one and I've unboxed it and almost freaked at the side but when on the counter top it looked very at home.

It's now staring me out. Challenging me.,No idea where to start.

Which liners did you get? Seem to be loads...

I don't do kitchen appliances at all really bar kettle and toaster; the fact I can bake bread in it was what really sold it. And dehydrate stuff. Herbs etc I bet there's some art uses

I looked at that and backed away for some reason - no idea why.

Yes apparently you can bake bread etc!

My mother spent weeks overnight drying flowers for our wedding... and getting her friends to do it too. God, she'd have loved this idea for air fryer! Grin

I bake breakfast muffins in mine sometimes. I want to experiment more with that.

MyOtherNameToday · 18/10/2023 12:21

I finally took the plunge and ordered one 😁 no point waiting any longer even DH wants one!

MyOtherNameToday · 18/10/2023 12:23

Any accessories people swear by for the 2 drawer ninja 9.5l?

WarriorN · 18/10/2023 13:43

I've been googling stacked grill thingys as I can see already you can fit more dried flowers, dehydrated oranges for Xmas food in the layers

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/10/2023 19:51

I have a bread maker and a JML halogen oven (alongside my normal oven).

DH tells me I have no room, which is sadly true.
But I,m leaning towards an Air Fryer especially as DS likes chicken, mozzarella sticks, wedge potatoes , all of which could be done without putting the big oven on.

But I don’t need one……. Sits on hands

weegiemum · 25/10/2023 20:31

I have an instant pot duo crisp. Got it for the pressure cooking, we eat a lot of soup.

But now use it almost every night, if we're not having something pressure cooked we're having something air fryed in it.

It is a bit bulky, esp the air fry lid, but we have the space so it's great.

boredsolicitor · 20/11/2023 20:27

i have just got a tefal one with the divider so 6.5 L or 2 smaller compartments for 2 of us. cant wait to get started . i am presuming its ok to pile things up as cant get much in if it has to be one layer only. i have ordered a book called bored of lunch which has been recommended to me as air fyer cook book . anything else i need to know?

I have this one - it’s the Ninja Flexdrawer. magazine brilliant - love how you can have drawers to cook two different things at once, but can also make it into one huge area (or ‘megazone’ as it’s called on the machine!) to fit something large in.

Isthiscorrect · 21/11/2023 08:14

@Sammysquiz what have you cooked in it please? I have one on order and I'm wondering if it's going to be too big for me.

WeeSleekitCowrinTimrousBeastie · 21/11/2023 08:19

I got this. I didn't want to pay ninja prices.

It's so easy to work my 11 year old makes herself chicken nuggets in it.

I love it.
