Healthy quick breakfast

Hello!

I’m looking for healthy breakfasts that are quick and easy to make but are nut and cheese free and I’m at a loss. I usually eat porridge but it gets boring quick and it takes up time, if I’m in a rush it’s weetabix but again it’s so dull and I don’t find weetabix very filling. I try to avoid bread so the only other thing I do is make up some scrambled eggs but occasionally they make me feel Ill so I’ve been avoiding eggs recently too.

I’m not very adventurous with food, I only eat because I have to so I really come up blank trying to think of anything interesting.

Breakfast burritos? You can pre prepare them but they’re pretty fast to pull together and very flexible in terms of what you put in them - beans, whatever veggies you want to use, eggs, salsa/jalapeños/sauces if you fancy. I usually do add cheese but leaving it out isn’t an issue.

Low fat Greek yogurt. Can also chop up some fruit to chuck in with it if you want. Easy peasy.

Potato waffles can go in the toaster and are very good! Perhaps with egg/ beans etc.?

Protein mug cake. 20g self raising, 20g flavoured whey protein, 60g (one scoop) soya milk, stir thoroughly. Microwave 45 seconds. A literal game changer I’ve been doing for many years.

Not arsed about the UPF bollocks either it tastes great I continue to lose weight and life is too short!

I often make granola for the kids as pp said you can put exactly what you like in it although I wouldn't use sunflower oil as it's terrible for you.
Just maple syrup.
Mine have it with Greek yogurt and either berries or stewed fruit.
I fast so don't eat breakfast but when I do eat at 12 I often have eggs they really fill me.

Selttan · 06/08/2023 09:06

My go to breakfast is yoghurt, banana and granola. I have macro goals I try to meet each day do find this is a perfect breakfast to work around what I need. If I want more protein I'll add protein powder or collagen. If more carbs I'll add something like Biscoff spread.

Make your own fruit compotes? I do this with seasonal fruit - peach & cherry, plum and cherry, apple and plum at the moment. I add in some maple syrup & chopped date, keep it in the fridge and it goes on anything - Greek yogurt and pumpkin seeds, soaked oats, cold quinoa, any cereal.

I sometimes make roasted veg and reheat a portion for breakfast in the microwave. I can then add some protein. I sometimes cook a pack of sausages to last me a few days and have one or two with the veg, or do a batch of hard boiled eggs or just poach an egg in the morning. Baked beans are good, as are grilled field mushrooms and tomatoes with the veg. I also love halloumi or feta with the veg, and often throw some brocolli florets in with the roast stuff as it reheats. It steams in just a few mins.

I'm not a sweet breakfast person and whilst bread is fine for me, it's good to mix things up.

That all sounds so delicious!

My current favourite smoothie is:
120g frozen or fresh blueberries
1 small banana
120ml ish apple juice
4 mint leaves

Scousemousey · 07/08/2023 15:05

Sometimes I make a tray of healthy flapjacks. Nice with a cuppa for brekkie when you don't fancy much. Other mornings I have a fried egg on toast.

I don't wish to be 'that' person, but that will send your blood sugar through the roof so I'd be wary of considering it healthy.
Better to add some fat to it, with milk or yogurt and maybe some chia seeds or nut butter. That will keep your blood sugar far more stable and keep you full for longer.

Sometimes when I don't fancy breakfast-type food I'll have a plate of chopped apple, dates, cheese and almonds/walnuts. You could replace the nuts with something like baked chickpeas.

GrumpyPanda · 07/08/2023 15:14

Miso soup with a bunch of different veggies. Can add a poached egg/cubed salmon or other fish and poured over noodles. Sesame seeds on top.

Shakshouka with feta and eggs.

Buckwheat kasha with onions and mushrooms, or with sausage if you're an omnivore.

Broccoli, halloumi and red onions with tahini/maple syrup and some fried noodles.

Pompoms88 · 07/08/2023 15:51

@StoneColdAlibi a very fair point 😄I have a sweet tooth 🙃

I absolutely love this idea.

If you have a sweet tooth...banana pancakes with a dollop of yoghurt and some berries. You can find proper recipes on line but I whizz up a ripe banana, some oats, an egg and dash of vanilla extract. You could do this the night before and they only take minutes to cook.

Lovelydovey · 07/08/2023 19:20

I'm a big fan of hash browns (cauliflower or sweet potato hash browns if I have them) spread with home made guacamole and topped with a poached eggs, roasted peppers and chilli oil.

This is great too. Greek yogurt with roasted peach and vanilla compote is the stuff of dreams.

Oat cakes with sliced avocado or guacamole or houmous always works as a quick tasty breakfast for me

jelly79 · 07/08/2023 20:55

Green yoghurt with seeds and berries
Sardines on ryvita
Banana and peanut butter
Coffee protein shakes
Smoked salmon and avocado
lettuce wraps with bacon and roasted peppers
Baked oats

misslomi · 07/08/2023 21:04

Sometimes I have Frittata. I make enough for a few days then eat cold but you could heat up. I put eggs, new potatoes & feta, then a mix of red onions, tenderstem broccoli, red pepper and peas.

If you don't eat cheese you could just leave the feta out.

mumof1or2 · 08/08/2023 11:07

I have the same breakfast everyday and it's really high in protein, really quick to prepare and keeps me full for ages. Two heck chicken sausages, half an avocado and a hard boiled egg. On a Sunday evening I make 5 hard boiled eggs and cook the ten sausages, pop it all in the fridge and then I have it cold every morning. Super quick and delicious!

headcheffer · 08/08/2023 11:22

Baked oats? I make mine in to muffins with fruit in. They're really tasty.

How do you make this? Is it in a frying pan or oven and how long please?
