aldi is fine!

NiqueNique · 06/07/2022 22:40

We like the Aldi one. But I haven’t tasted any others in quite a few years now so I’ve nothing to compare it to.

PeppaPigIsBacon · 06/07/2022 22:42

I actually prefer Morrisons to Heinz

atomicnotsoblonde · 06/07/2022 22:43

Waitrose own

IncessantNameChanger · 06/07/2022 22:43

Tesco own or even Tesco cheapie are both good.

JudgeRindersMinder · 06/07/2022 22:43

I prefer Sainsburys to Heinz, it’s not as sweet

HarrietSchulenberg · 06/07/2022 22:44

Tesco or Sainsburys own brands. They taste better in my opinion.

NiqueNique · 06/07/2022 22:44

Yes I remember the Morrison’s own was good.

I no longer like Heinz, it’s really not very nice.

AshTrees · 06/07/2022 22:45

Co-op. It is really excellent

ShinyPikachu · 06/07/2022 22:47

Morrisons. I don't eat many things with tomato in them myself but DH prefers their ketchup as well as their own brand beans to Heinz ones now.

WellTidy · 06/07/2022 22:48

Waitrose essentials did the best (better than Heinz) in a blind taste test on that bbc programme with Gregg what’s his name where they get families to spend less on food.

Startuplife · 06/07/2022 22:48

We find Aldi fine and we both used to be a bit funny about brands.
I actually happened to try real Fibre One bars for the first time recently and thought they were horrible after always having the Aldi knock offs!

WellTidy · 06/07/2022 22:49

We actually prefer the Waitrose essentials one over Heinz. I would buy the Waitrose one even if it were more expensive.

allboysherebutme · 06/07/2022 23:02

I watched shop well for less once and Lidl came out on top. X

MisterMist · 06/07/2022 23:11

Maybe I should have asked which is closest in taste to Heinz in order to fool the pesky, fussy kids!

TooMinty · 06/07/2022 23:22

I switch between Heinz and Lidl at random and I don't think my kids can taste any difference. Although they are old enough to read the label so I'm not really fooling them!

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 06/07/2022 23:50

I just buy the own brand of whichever supermarket I'm in at the time, I currently have Morrisons and its fine.

I find the Asda own brand (not smart price) tastes just like Heinz. My fussy 6 year old ketchup lover cannot tell the difference.

redhearts · 07/07/2022 12:25

I bought the M&S once once as they had sold out of Heinz. It was delicious and I was shocked at how cheap it was compared to Heinz.

Dancinginthedark01 · 07/07/2022 12:27

We use Tesco own and I can’t tell the difference tbh.

Narcheska · 07/07/2022 12:29

Tesco own (the cheap one) hot yeh bite in our house. My 4 yr old is autism and I was panicking about how expensive he so was getting and if it would derail his eating if we swapped but he likes the tesco one so we’re safe

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/07/2022 12:29

The Lidl one - I bought it for DS to try , he said it was great .

NiqueNique · 07/07/2022 12:53

Honestly @MisterMist I’m sure they’ll be fine. A few days to adjust and they’ll happily eat it (that is if they’re just fussy and there aren’t other issues such as ASD which of course makes it more complex/difficult).

Children are quite adaptable - if they’re given the choice of new ketchup or no ketchup they’ll soon try it and decide that it’s absolutely fine.

And speaking more generally, Heinz isn’t the best or nicest ketchup by any stretch - it’s just the most well known brand.

RoobarbandCustud · 09/07/2022 23:44

Aldi, I don't like any other now. It's a bit more spicy and complex and less sweet than Heinz.

Littleguggi · 10/07/2022 20:59

Morrisons, also prefer Morrisons own brand baker beans!
