Hi all,

few questions from me if you could help.

  1. do you know how many kg of foodwaste do you empty every week.

  2. how often do you empty the foodwaste bin to the bigger bin.

  3. do you get the foodwaste bin from the council or do you buy it.

  4. No judgement at all but if you dont do foodwaste seggeragation, then why is that?

Thanks for your help.

Our council (Bath & NE Somerset) collects and sends our food waste to be incinerated for energy, collecting every week.

They gave us large and small caddies at least 10 years ago.

I probably empty the small caddy twice a week; it depends on whether we've had bread go off/lots of root veg peel/chicken carcass etc.

Good luck with your venture

Veg waste gets composted. Things like bones, chicken or fish skin, tea bag outers go into a small plastic box in the fridge, and wrapped in newspaper, fish and chip style weekly.
We had a large and small food waste bins provided by the Council several years ago. They provided some compostable bags but are happy with newspaper. If I need bags, usually because I've made stock from several chicken carcases, I use biodegradable bags that some magazines come in

Nottingham City Council don't collect food waste.

Combined food waste and garden wheelie bin from the council

Have an indoor caddy and the council provide biodegradable liners. Empty it when it's full so maybe a couple of times a week depending what has been cooked. Emptied every 2 weeks.
