What shall I do with 5 Creme Eggs?

Other than eat them or bin them!

I made Creme Egg Slow-Cooker Chocolate Cake, which was very good.

What else can I make with them?

I’ve just discovered four crème eggs hidden in the piano stool that I think DH or I hid from the DC this Easter so we could have them without being pestered that the DC wanted more too.

That slow cooker cake sounds yum - I don’t have a slow cooker, can anyone work out if the recipe could be adapted for a regular oven?

This thread is killing me, Grin

Only on MN would people suggest donating a few spare crème eggs to a food bank.

Mykittensmittens · 09/05/2022 22:28

I saw a lovely recipe for a muffin/cupcake type thing. You poured half the batter in the case, put an egg in, topped it up and baked it.

result is a gooey middled muffin.

damned if I can find the recipe now!

watcherintherye · 09/05/2022 22:30

Why do you have to make them into something else? You can’t improve on perfection! Grin

Peak MN.

There's plenty of energy in a creme egg. Do as pp said and give to a food bank, then someone can enjoy them.

These creme egg brownies were perfect

Emotive things, Creme Eggs. Whodathunkit?Grin

FWIW I agree with most of you: they're disgusting, delicious, non-food treats that everyone deserves a chance to have if they like.

Like the idea of melting them for a sauce. But I still want to know how to incorporate them into a cheesecake.

Only 4 left now. One's in a little jar of vodka in the airing cupboard, next to the Fruit Pastille vodka Wink

Fruit Pastille vodka?

I suspect you could just bake it as normal, but for less time - 45 minutes at 180C, maybe a little longer.

I’d make a couple of crème egg brownies with them - substitute half the dark chocolate for a couple of crème eggs. I’ve done this with Bounty Bars and Mars Bars before and it works well.

SpeedofaSloth, fill a jam jar with Fruit Pastilles packed in tightly, then top up with vodka. Tap the jar on the counter to release bubbles and top up with more vodka if it settles. Screw the lid on tightly and put the jar in the airing cupboard, where the warmth will help the sweets dissolve faster. It should be ready after about a month. Then you can either give it a shake to mix it and drink it like that, or transfer it to the fridge without shaking it. If you're going to drink it as is, then just bung the sweets in anyhow, or using only one or two colours. But I prefer to group the sweets in their colours as I pack them into the jar, and do the careful transfer from airing cupboard to fridge. That way they set into an alcoholic sweet that we eat by the teaspoonful, rather than drink, and each spoonful tastes different.

You can do this with any jelly-based sweet. Jelly Babies are really nice, though you might want to wipe off the powder coating first if you're going to drink them. It makes the drink look a little unattractive, but is invisible if you do the spooning jelly method.

Crème egg scotch eggs - cover in just baked brownie (like making a cake pop only with the egg inside) then coat in chocolate and rice krispies.

Shout out also to the posters who have taken the time to spell creme egg with an e-acute in an attempt to make the total non-'foodstuff' feel more classy. Its a hot topic on mumsnet, is chocolate!

Dilbertian · 10/05/2022 14:46

Excusez-moi, headofpotsandpans, mon pot, but, if we're going to admire pedantry, let us be pedantic in our pedantry. It is an accent grave. Wink

Ooh, I'm tempted to experiment with different vodkas now. Will go and get some fruit pastilles and jelly babies. Also really want some crème egg vodka, anyone got any spare crème eggs?

CorsicaDreaming · 11/05/2022 20:32

I'd store them up and then just eat one in moments of extremis - nothing quite like a crème egg.........

Or I might try softening up some posh vanilla ice cream, chopping some up and stirring through........

But mainly I'd just wait for the moment only a crème egg would do and eat them

My phone is just adding it all by itself 😳

Buy 5 more then have a competition between you and your dh to see who can eat them the fastest.
