After reading a article on the Dailymail I was curious as to other peoples dinner times. We have dinner at 5/5:30 as my son is always hungry after school.

All previous posts have been about tea time.

Dinner time is 12:30 - 13:30.

dementedpixie · 16/04/2022 21:09

Tea time is when you drink tea. Dinner is the evening meal

bagsofbats · 16/04/2022 21:12

I came o. To say that dinner is in the middle of the day, we have tea around 6 but I was beaten to it!

Concestor · 16/04/2022 21:14

My preference is for 7pm but that's kids bedtimes, so they eat 5-6pm and we eat later once they are asleep. I haven't eaten yet as youngest is struggling to get to sleep so I'm currently in his bed helping him. We usually eat about 9pm though.

Concestor · 16/04/2022 21:14

We don't eat with the kids because that's too early for me and I need a second dinner!

oodbood · 16/04/2022 22:17

My children eat around 5ish. Me and DH usually around 7ish.

I'm useless at having set meal times and term time evenings are busy with clubs etc, we eat anytime from 5:30 - 8:30 has been as late as 9:00 in the summer holidays.

CarryonCovid · 17/04/2022 07:15

Teatime is 4-5pm tea(the drink) and a biscuit/flap jack/ cake.

Supper is 7-7:30 (simple meal in the kitchen)
Dinner is 8pm ( 2 courses very possibly some wine in the dinning room)

Well I like to eat at 6pm. It doesn’t always work well with other commitments so it can be any time between 5 and 8. Often have to heat DH’s up later if he gets home late. Working from home a lot in the last 2 years has made dinner time so much easier - more time to prepare it, less frazzled and often everyone can eat at the same time - which is so much easier and less effort.

When kids were tiny they ate at 4pm at nursery and had yogurt/fruit on getting home at 6pm, when at primary school they ate at 5pm at the childminders (but still had yogurt/fruit at 6 when we got home) and when they moved to secondary they got themselves a snack after school and ate with me at 6:30, DH ate later when he got home.

ProseccoStorm · 17/04/2022 08:16

We do two meals, children at 5.30/6, adults at 7.30 ish

My personal ideal time for at home eating is probably around 6.30

lorisparkle · 17/04/2022 08:19

When ds were younger and I worked part time we ate at about 5.30pm. However we now eat at any time from about 6.30pm onwards depending on what else is going on.

RampantIvy · 17/04/2022 08:31

We usually eat between 6.30 and 7. Any earlier and I'm not hungry. Any later and DH is up all night with reflux (he has had gastric surgery for cancer).

We eat lunch and tea Grin (Yorkshire)

JollyAndBright · 17/04/2022 08:36

6pm

DS (15) makes himself a snack when he gets home from school as he’s usually starving and that keeps him going until dinner.

RampantIvy · 17/04/2022 08:51

Do the people who eat at 4 and 5 pm not bother with lunch?

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/04/2022 08:52

8 o’clock or we’re hungry again before bed

MajorCarolDanvers · 17/04/2022 09:09

I like dinner at
5/530

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 17/04/2022 09:10

6pm usually . That's when everyone pretty much walks through the door ravenous , especially my eldest who is a labourer , the first thing he does is open the fridge so I do dinner for when they arrive home . Normally all done by 6.30pm so theres plenty of down time to be had after

grafittiartist · 17/04/2022 09:25

5/ 5.30 - everyone is home and hungry then so that suits us. Might have some supper later.

Bbq1 · 17/04/2022 09:45

We are Northern so it's tea time for us. Initially I thought you were referring to lunch! We eat between 5.30 and 7pm the but ideal time for us is 6pm.

Enko · 17/04/2022 09:51

7 to 8 pm. I hate it when we go to Denmark and dinner gets served at 6 on the dot. I get hungry later on so end up eating more.

When kids were small they ate at 6. But by 8 to 10 they were eating with us

HappydaysArehere · 17/04/2022 10:11

We have dinner about 4.30 to 5pm. However, we are retired and don’t bother with lunch (banana) and breakfast is around 9am.

I eat breakfast at 6.30am/7am. Lunch any time between 11am and 12 noon.

Supper around 7 to 8pm (almost always porridge).

User48751490 · 17/04/2022 10:40

When I am up between 5 and 6am every day, I like to have dinner dishes all done by 5pm so I can chill out rest of late afternoon/evening.

myrtleWilson · 17/04/2022 10:42

About 8:30 here
