Ben & jerry's - I think it's called vanilla for a change or some such - is very nice.

policywonk · 06/01/2008 22:58

Carte d'or is very sweet - a bit like Mr Whippy with vanilla seeds in. I love it myself, but I do have a horrendously sweet tooth.

Granny22 · 06/01/2008 22:59

Definately - Bourbon Vanilla from Lidl. With Tinned or lightly poached Pears.

JustMissyNow · 06/01/2008 23:00

my step mum uses the carte dor for m/shakes at her coffee shop

hotchocscot · 06/01/2008 23:00

I like Mackie's Organic vanilla ice cream. Its fab scottish made stuff, and i find its the most truly vanilly flavour of the ones I've tried (that is, them all )

MerryPIFFLEmas · 06/01/2008 23:01

mackies.. And trust me, my expertise in this area is somewhat extensive

QuintessentialShadow · 06/01/2008 23:01

Yes, not sweet, true and pure vanilla flavour sounds good...

cream of cornish, traditional ice cream made with full cream and butter. Tatse like ice cream should

funnypeculiar · 06/01/2008 23:03

G&B is very good - very dense/less air whipped in than than Carte d'Or. (although i agree with PW, I like it too)
Finest a bit artificial-tasting imo, and rather 'over-seeded'
HD is good too

(And yes, i did actually have to look into this for work

BecauseImWorthIt · 06/01/2008 23:04

Low carbing means I haven't bought any for a long time, but when I did, it was only Haagen Daazs which used only natural ingredients. Even Ben & Jerry's (if I remember rightly) had some artificial stuff in it.

QuintessentialShadow · 06/01/2008 23:05

G&B's? Might try that.

Would Kellys Cornish Dairy Ice cream do?

Kellys

Also a vote for Mackies organic vanilla, it's lovely
Their standard dairy ice-cream is also delicious

PortAndLemonaid · 06/01/2008 23:09

Green and Blacks or Hill Station.

Or make it yourself.

QuintessentialShadow · 06/01/2008 23:09

I might have to order all these options....

funnypeculiar · 06/01/2008 23:10
  • I also spent a LOT of time researching chocolate, PW (mostly massmarket but a few trips to Fortnums were involved )
funnypeculiar · 06/01/2008 23:10

QuintessentialShadow · 06/01/2008 23:11
