I want to eat fish at least twice a week but really struggle with fish recipes. I like fish, though not with annoying little bones, but my imagination never takes me further than a bit of fish on a plate surrounded by vegetables. Please help!

Tuna Niçoise
Sweet chilli salmon with spicy noodles
Fish pie
mackerel pâté on toast
Fish and chips (home made)
Any oily fish with cous cous

look on the good food or delicious magazine website and you will find loads of ideas.

Kedgeree is lovely, a million recipes online for it.
Cod steaks wrapped in Parma ham and fried, served with new potatoes and salad.
Salmon stir fry. I particularly like ginger and spring onion sauce, and rice noodles.

WhatsMyNameGonnaBeNow · 18/02/2022 19:29

Seafood pasta
Mediterranean stuffed salmon
Cooked in parcels with veg and pesto
Marinated fish with stir fry veg & rice/noodles or baked cajun spiced with roast/steamed veg & rice
Fish pie
Paella
Pan fried with risotto
Tuna melt
Med style fish stew

There are lots of great recipes online, BBC good food has lots but do always read the comments.

Tell us what fish you like - sardines are obviously out (I agree).
Seafood ?
Price constraints ? I love lobster & skate, but special occasions only.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 18/02/2022 20:09

Ooohhh, thanks all, some lovely ideas! @Georgyporky - I like “meaty” style fish - things like cod, monkfish….
I do eat a lot of salmon and prawns once or twice a month.

I get a lot of fish fishes in my gousto box which are mostly based on basa fillets or haddock. You can look at their recipes without signing up for inspiration

I love monkfish too but its not widely sold and it's so expensive. V much a once a year treat here.

This www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/recipes/chorizo-crumbed-cod-pepper-traybake/ Cod and chorizo tray bake]] is very popular here.

We also make tandoori cod, we cheat and use a tandoori paste with low fat yoghurt to marinate and then grill and serve with rice and salads with mango chutney and raita.

Tuna steaks are really ‘meaty’, lovely cooked in a griddle pan, served pink in the middle with a balsamic reduction, garlicky spinach and roasted tomatoes.

If you want a quick fishcakes recipe, tinned tuna with chilli, lime, red onion and sweet potato are fab.

Ahh, it’s not something I have very often either. Way too scared of ruining an expensive fish!

I love it, but the price, ouch!

The sardine tomato & olives with spaghetti dish uses tinned sardines, so if you use ready filleted tinned sardines bones won’t be a problem for you, or you can use bone free tuna of course. You will benefit from an economical store cupboard meal quickly prepared if you learn how to make it.

Fish taco off minimalist baker website

ISpyCobraKai · 19/02/2022 01:03

I know anchovies aren't really a whole fish dish as such, but if you like them then they are great.
My favourite cheap dish is melted anchovies and garlic paste in olive oil stirred through spaghetti.

AdaColeman · 19/02/2022 08:41

Nigella Lawson’s fish finger bhorta might appeal to you, it’s easy and economical and bone free.

Rainbowshit · 19/02/2022 10:05

We eat salmon baked in a parcel. We spread either sweet chilli sauce or spicy pesto on top.

Moqueca - a Brazilian fish stew which works well with any freshwater fish, but particularly with oily ones such as tuna.

Caldeirada is a Portuguese fish stew made with whatever is available.

Lots of recipes on the internet.

KimchiWithMe · 19/02/2022 17:54

Tandoori kebabs.
Thai green curry.

KimchiWithMe · 19/02/2022 17:56

Fish pie (mix of haddock etc) - what you can get at deli in a 'mix'.

Tuna fish pie with cheese sauce, tarragon and mushrooms.

Both above pies with potato or sweet potato mix mash.

Smoked haddock, cheese sauce, mushrooms and whatever veg you like plus potatoes
