my DD&DH like scampi (i think) but I'm having Garlic mushrooms.

hermykne · 15/12/2007 12:49

rocket, pear, blue cheese of some sort, with balsamic dressing

Blandmum · 15/12/2007 12:55

A side of salmon dressed with asparagus. M and S!

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 15/12/2007 12:57

I love everyone else's christmas, I always feel very common . We just have main n puddin (sorry, that should probably be "dessert" )

Nightynight · 15/12/2007 13:09

If you are having a huge roast dinner, do you need a starter??

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 15/12/2007 13:12

Lol Flame, pudding is the 'right' word

I have no idea, I don't like fish or funny cheese, my lot love prawns but I can't stand them so we never have them.

I'll probably just do M&S too! My turkey always comes from there tbh.

BroccoliSpears · 15/12/2007 13:13

We don't have starters on Christmas day either. We do scoff chocolate and nuts and crispy nibbles in the morning though.

cluckiemama · 15/12/2007 13:25

We're having smoked salmon on watercress and sliced avocado with a squeeze of lemon juice on top.......delicious!!!! wink

Brie coated in breadcrumbs and deep fried with garlic mayo - lush!

BrieVinDeAlkaSeltzer · 15/12/2007 13:28

We set the table first thing in the morning, then have our starter for lunch at about 1.00.p.m Tidy up the table and then have Christmas dinner at about 5.00 p.m.

It is wrong to eat your Christmas dinner when it is still bright outside and come the revolution I will pass a law to that effect.

BrieVinDeAlkaSeltzer · 15/12/2007 13:29

And in answer to your question, smoked salmon and brown bread.

DanJARMouse · 15/12/2007 13:30

oh and i mean the cheese, not our very own LGJ!

choosyfloosy · 15/12/2007 13:31

i'm not going to bother, though we will have pudding and dessert

so turkey, then pud, then quality time with chocs, nuts, fruit and cheese

eleanorsmum · 15/12/2007 13:33

hi shosha
we're having toasted french bread topped with red onion marmalade and crumbled blue cheese melted lightly under grill. easy peasy and yummy!

inSanityClaus · 15/12/2007 13:34

Exactly - starter just leaves less room for Quality Street

bossybritches · 15/12/2007 13:36

AHa BrieVin so do we - with champagne while we open tree prezzies, then a pause while the kids play with the new toys & we have a quick tidy up (I once threw a vital bit of toy out with all the paper & crap in a fit of festive drunkeness so now we get rid of rubbish asap to prevent disaster.!!)while we get the diner finished then eat when it's ready. Hate rushing it, we sometimes don't eat till 5pm if we have visitors or dramas.

MrsWeasleysmagicmincepies · 15/12/2007 14:19

I must admit that it is only last year that DH decided he wanted a starter. I prefer to go straight to the main lovely roast

CarmenerryChristmas · 15/12/2007 14:23

Smoked salmon on home made brown bread with home made horseradish sauce.

shoshaliteupthetree · 15/12/2007 14:40

Sorry I posted and then fell asleep on the sofa

We had deep fried brie with cranbeery sauce last year and Salmon the year before, cant have Prawns as DS cant have them.

None of us like pud, so we have started instead.

Starter? before the full works and christmas pud etc etc? A starter is not traditional.

A few nibbles (maybe smoked salmon or prawn based canapes) with champagne as an appetiser, while the last minute Dad's Army style panic occurs in the kitchen, possibly.

We have christmas dinner in the evening.

pinkspottywellies · 15/12/2007 14:56

Most of our family like prawn cocktail (80's style!) or pate but those who don't have stuffed tomatoes.

KITTYmaspudding · 15/12/2007 14:57

No starter.
It's not tradtional and anyways I have a hard enough job fitting in the main course, pud, cheese, choc, mince pies and vast amounts of booze..

bobbiewicameuponamidnightclear · 15/12/2007 15:00

Yep, prawn cocktail in a wine glass with iceberg lettuce and pink sauce made of ketchup and mayo mixed together.

It's kitsch

ladylush · 15/12/2007 15:01

No starter but a brunch of smoked salmon, brown bread and scrambled eggs and then the trad xmas dinner at about 3pm
