Anyone got a recipe for "melting moments" and a lemon pudding thing?

I remember having biscuits at school (many moons ago) called "melting moments". They were yummy and I'd like to make some. Anyone know what I'm on about and have a recipe?

Also, there's a lemon pudding where all the lovely lemony sauce sinks to the bottom. It's got sponge in it. I'd like to have a go at that too.

All advice and recipes gratefully received .

Lemon surprise pudding:

Serves 4

2 eggs, separated
2oz butter (50g)
4oz caster sugar (110g)
2 large lemons (rind and juice)
20z self-raising flour (50g), sifted
1/4 pint milk (150ml)
1 1/2 pint (845ml) buttered deep baking dish

Pre-heat oven to Gas 4, 350 F, 180 C

Beat butter, sugar and lemon rind together until well softened, then beat in egg yolks little at a time.

Fold in the flour alternately with the milk and lemon juice.

Whisk the egg whites and fold in - mixture will look curdled.

Pour into dish and bake in centre of oven for 40 - 45 mins or until golden-brown.

Remove from oven, lock yourself in the bathroom and eat the lot!

65g margarine
40g lard
75g caster sugar
half medium egg (don't know how you do that!)
1 tsp vanilla essence
150g SR flour
Oats or dessicated coconut
Glace cherries

Heat oven to 180 degrees or Gas mark 4 and greese 2 baking trays.
Cream marge and sugar and lard until very light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla essence.
Stir in the flour and mix well.
Roll walnut sized pieces of the mixture into balls and toss in rolled oats or coconut.
Place on baking trays, flatten slightly and place a small peice of cherry on the top of each one.
Bake for 10- 15 mins

Be-Ro flour recipe book. They've been making them for years. Mine is the 40th edition. I've got my mums old one from when I was a little child. I swear by it.

Just done a search on Amazon and can't find it - I'd like a really good cookery book for baking - I'm just finding my feet with making cakes and stuff.

I've got a spare if you'd like it. I could only get it from the baking stuff section in the coop. If you cat me with your address, I'll send it to you. Between this book, Marry Berry and my mums step by step cookery book that Margarite Patten wrote in the 70's I think, I've learnt a great deal.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 12/11/2004 22:59

That would be lovely, I'll get in touch.

My mum's got the BeRo book from when I was little too!

SoupDragon · 13/11/2004 09:28

Anyway, forget Melting Moments, what you need are my chocolate chip cookies

I think the lemon surprise pudding is similar to the Lemon Delicious one I've just bumped.

Cadbury · 13/11/2004 10:10

Stop it Soupy! The only thing that's been stopping be from making them was that I didn't have the 3 different kinds of chocolate. Now I have, the only other thing stopping me is that I have all my cake tins full with cookies, brownies and tealoaf! I'd have nowhere to put them and I'm trying to loose weight. If Yorkiegirl catches a whiff of me making chocolate cookies, I'll be in trouble!

SoupDragon · 13/11/2004 12:36

I've never used the 3 different sorts of chocolate - can't stand white chocolate!

It must be time for another attempt at SWs brownies, I've still not managed to perfect them.

Cadbury · 13/11/2004 14:11

I have my own brownie recipe that draws quite good crowds. I'll try Suzy Wongs one day though ( as they are so famous).

Tinker · 13/11/2004 14:16

codswallop · 13/11/2004 14:49

Cadbury · 13/11/2004 14:54

We always had coconut, never oats. The flapjacks from that book are fanastic though. I still make them almost weekly.
