I recently bought a box of mixed veg and there's a swede inside. I've never had swede before so no idea what it tastes like and I'm here asking for your best swede recipes please.
Or should I just do myself a favour and bin the thing...

Ta.

I don’t bother peeling it, just wash the outside really well. I then chop it into big chunks and roast it along with other root veg coated in good olive oil and spices. I don’t mash it either.

Update: I boiled it with a carrot and mashed it with some butter s&p and i liked it. Now I know how it tastes I can try some of the more involved recipes. It was a bugger to chop. I might try the microwave trick next time.
Thank you very much for your recipes :)

Glad you liked it!

Although I was utterly astonished to find someone who'd never tried swede...it made me feel exotic! It was forever fed to us as kids in school dinners.

One of our favourites

It's a staple mashed with butter and pepper for our roast dinners too.
