NorthernRockCod · 25/09/2007 15:07

HOT oven sq

Elasticbandstand · 25/09/2007 15:07

i never do.
that is why i don't like freezing sausages,
can you defrost in microwave
you can buy bags of frozen sausages that you can cook from frozen.

fryalot · 25/09/2007 15:08

if you line the grill pan with tin foil so it drapes over the top, you can just remove the foil and chuck it away, still no grill to clean

fryalot · 25/09/2007 15:09

yeah, cod, but you've got to get it just right, if you get it too hot then they burn on the outside but are still raw in the middle... if you get it too low then they don't crispen up.

If you oven cook on a fairly low heat and then just shmootz them under the grill....

ta da! perfect bangers

oliveoil · 25/09/2007 15:10

how long in oven and how hot?

fryalot · 25/09/2007 15:12

well I would say about half an hour on about 180

but I bet cod says hotter

fireflyfairy2 · 25/09/2007 15:12

If you line the grill pan with tin foil it may also catch fire like happened to my mam!!

My younger sister still teases my older sister about lining a baking try with foil... she babysat once & cooked for sis's kids.. she said there must have been about 8 layers of tinfoil on top of another!! [eewww]

You can buy frozen sausages... but I wouldn't. I have lovely pork & leek sausages in the fridge, I don't think they would taste the same after being frozen...

I'd be terrified of getting sick!

louii · 25/09/2007 15:15

Just bung them on defrost in microwave for a few mins then cook as normal, tis only a few sausages.

Flamesparrow · 25/09/2007 15:17

We've got cast iron stomachs

We do the foil lining too (discussed actually cleaning under the foil the other day, but decided it was just insanity and had another cup of tea instead...)

Right - so possibly 180, in a tray, for about 30 mins or so.

Ialways do it but cook in them in the oven on a slightly lower heat and for slightly longer. Also, I always vut one and check the middle is cooked before serving them.

Flamesparrow · 25/09/2007 15:18

My microwave is a nightmare on defrost, it either does hardly anything or starts cooking them (no rhyme nor reason to which it will choose).

enjoy

fryalot · 25/09/2007 15:19

(although if you'd taken them out of the freezer when you first asked the question, they may have been defrosted by now, the length of this thread )

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 25/09/2007 15:22

i cook mine from frozen, but also buy them frozen so dont know if that would make a difference

Flamesparrow · 25/09/2007 15:25

Good point!

How has a frozen sausages thread got so many posts?? Is nothing happening on main MN or am I just smellin pretty today?
