What would you want on it?

I'd be happy with just roast potatoes, veg, yorkies and gravy!

Another one for no meat replacement. However, this is as long as you do a good roast. You need good veg and stuffing/yorkshires.

I wouldn't want a separate meal. I love all of the roast dinner apart from the meat obviously. I would like some sort of quorn roast or a nut roast but not mushrooms. Don't assume all vegetarians like mushrooms - I hate them. Oh and definitely veggie gravy

I love a nut roast with all the rest of the bits of a roast dinner (minus the meat!).

They can sometimes be a bit dry though so need gravy (vegetarian version!).

Id say a bought pie too. Aldi do really nice veggie pasties-a variety of fillings.

Thanks everyone! The veggie gravy is probably something I'd have forgotten all about. 4 non veggies, 2 veggies. Non veggies having beef and not cooking anything else in animal fat so literally just swapping the beef. A pie sounds good!

Put cashew.nuts and mushrooms , onion if you like, in a food processor and blitz them, then add a bit of oil, spices etc and a little flour to help it stick, then roast in a loaf or cake tin (comes out like a stuffing or crumble and tastes delish)

I'd prefer all vegetables to meat substitutes. If you did want to go down the nut roast route, this is lovely (but huge so you might want to scale down) realfood.tesco.com/recipes/nut-roast.html

Please just don’t give them vegetables and not an omelette or quiche either, especially with gravy [boak].

Why don’t you ask them if they have a preference? Some people love Quorn, others, myself included, would struggle to eat a Quorn roast.

When I first met dp, we used to go to his parents' for Sunday lunch and every week without fail I'd be given a slice of pizza or an onion bhaji alongside the vege! I was always polite but my god, it was hard work getting it down!

I'd go pie.

Homity pie 😋 and plenty of cauliflower cheese!

Don’t use Quorn without asking first. Lots of people can’t tolerate it. It can have very nasty side effects.

I love a veggie Wellington or even a nice puff pastry tart! Not sure how well it "goes" but I like them with all the trimmings.

My dad always does me a fat slab of halloumi 😁

I used to do a mixed mushroom sauté with mushroom and Madeira gravy and sometimes a puff pastry topping (butter OK as they were not vegan) for vegetarian friends. Seemed to go down OK.

Lentil moussaka sounds amazing! If you CBA to cook anything extra then veggie sausages would be fine by me. Most important thing is that there is some veggie gravy!

When we have a veggie guest I usually do either the Linda Maccartney roast or a couple of her mozzarella burgers, and eat them myself too. Non veggie dd prefers the mozzarella burgers to most beef burgers too.

The bisto veggie gravy mix is now the only one I bother to keep in the store cupboard, the chicken and beef flavour ones I now find too salty and artificial flavoured.

I love a full roast but without the meat
Dont like meat substitues really.

Not a huge fan of nut roast, but a roast dinner needs protein.
Quorn is easy.

I'm bored of little bits of pastry containing mushrooms or veg - it is just more veg. Why is it always butternut squash?

Vege gravy and roasties would be great.

Everything but the meat.

If it's just a standard Sunday roast then I normally have sausages, either Quorn or Linda McCartney and everything else other people are having. Last Christmas and New Year's Day I had the Linda McCartney Beef Roast which was really nice with lashings of gravy. But try not to use a gravy for meat even if it is vegetarian because most of the people I know don't like the taste of it.

Something with protein - quiche, omelette, cheesy pie would all be good for me and all seem like quite natural pairings with roast potatoes and vegetables.

Hate it when someone tries to substitute a large vegetable for a main course - how is a mushroom a main dish?!

Do people really eat an omelette with a Sunday roast? Sad
