I had a bit of a stomach churn when I unexpectedly came across www.ocado.com/webshop/startWebshop.do?pvalue1=american+coated&pname1=entry&pvalue2=yes&pname2=clearT abs&mainFrame=%2Fwebshop%2FgetSearchProducts.do. I don't care if they are a different nationality, it's still cannibalism to eat Americans.

That really is disgusterous and sickable. I don't know how any sane personal who wasn't completely on the point of starvation could eat that.

Bat your breath still smells of it

bran · 13/08/2007 22:33

Did everyone try Carmenere or did some run screaming from the room? And of those who tried it, how many kept it down?

Oh myself and my boss were in a fancy restaurant and got talking to the owner about why we were there ect and he produced his prized cheese. honestly it wasn't that bad and there wern't any magotts in the bit I ate.

brimfull · 13/08/2007 22:36

I seriously would rather someone dipped my nipples in acid rather than eat that cheese.

whomovedmychocolate · 13/08/2007 22:36

Oh my fucking god you have to be kidding Carmenere???

brimfull · 13/08/2007 22:39

maggot shit-you've eaten maggot shit ffs!

pointydog · 13/08/2007 22:40

that voiceover was fab, choco

'maggots - creatures that live on rot and decay'

I'm going to heave

pointydog · 13/08/2007 22:40

mm mm mmmmm

when one squishes on the roof of your mouth...

whomovedmychocolate · 13/08/2007 22:41

You know we could post this on the big/thin/whatever diet threads - people would lose so much weight watching that sort of thing.

Carmenere · 13/08/2007 22:42

You are all just jealous of my wide and varied life experience

whomovedmychocolate · 13/08/2007 22:43

Yeah, sure we are.....well I guess at least you don't have to worry about garlic breath after eating that cheese

whomovedmychocolate · 13/08/2007 22:45

Mind you I have eaten Gorgonzola and other unpasteurised blue cheeses that are very rotten and have bacterial colonies (yummy) in them. I don't worry about it much tbh. But I don't want anything wriggling in my mouth. URGGH

pointydog · 13/08/2007 22:48

carmenere, were you also the kid that always ate boiled egg sandwiches?

whomovedmychocolate · 13/08/2007 22:48

The other kids boiled egg sandwiches (bet you traded your nice cheese sandwiches for them too?)

Carmenere · 13/08/2007 22:51

People all over the world eat stuff that we find revolting, I'm just quite open-minded to different foods because I am very interested in food. Cheese was my specialist subject at the time and this is a very unusual cheese so I was intrigued. It wasn't revolting. I'm not saying I'd eat it every day but I'm glad I've tried it.

pointydog · 13/08/2007 23:04

You are quite right, carm. And you have one of the best stories to tell people EVER

moondog · 13/08/2007 23:06

No need for that Carmenere.
No need at all.
I rememberbeing in dim sum place eating chicken feet and entrails pretending i like them and suddenly seeing sense.

bran · 13/08/2007 23:17

Well, I've eaten Durian. Mind you I still find it hard to be within 30 ft of one because of the smell even though I've come to quite like the taste in small amounts.

themoon66 · 13/08/2007 23:25

bran, that looks just weird

bran · 13/08/2007 23:29

And it smells vile themoon, worse than men's public loos. The first time I visited Kuala Lumpur I was walking along the street with dh and I was overcome by a nauseating stench. I said to dh that there was a dreadful drain problem there, but he just pointed out the durian stall across the street. [shudder]

OP posts:
themoon66 · 13/08/2007 23:31

So it smells something like a cross between rotten drains and stale bloke piss? How, for the love of God, did someone, somewhere think 'Oh I must put that in my mouth'?

Carmenere · 13/08/2007 23:34

You can buy Durian in Wing Yip in Croydon. It smells like vomit, it must taste good to continue to appeal to anyone after smelling it.

bran · 13/08/2007 23:37

Trust me Carmenere, if you've only smelt it in the UK you haven't really smelt it. I don't know whether it's the temperature and humidity in Malaysia or just that it's so much fresher but the smell is atleast 10 times stronger.

makes my effort with boiled goats brains still in the skull quite tame.

Also goat intestine soup - scrummy, not, though sounds almost delicious compared to maggot cheese.
