Having a 1970s themed night with friends we all grew up in the 70s so thought this would be fun! I don’t have bags of time for prep so looking for ideas for snacks and nibbles to buy / make easily and relatively cheaply. Thinking along the lines of cheese footballs. Already got some 70s sweets.

My mother always served these two savoury treats at parties

Orange jelly with grated carrot
Blackcurrant jelly with beetroot bits.
😂

Oh and how about packet style cheesecake with tinned mandarin oranges to decorate. I loved this!

Brilliant ideas and so funny! My mother did a couple of these back in the day but we definitely weren’t posh enough for the more extravagant ones. The tiny wine glass thing is interesting my parents had some tiny goblet type glasses made of dark red glass - very odd

Oh Mil had the dark red wine glasses too - must have been a thing! We also found some Babycham glasses - again tiny!

My mum had thimble sized wine glasses for years I bought her new ones one christmas just so i could have decent drink Grin

My mum had wine glasses with long green stems.

inned Russian salad - it looked like vomit.

Toast toppers? Anyone remember them?

And 'potted meat' little jars of what looked like cat food.

Mrsjayy · 03/05/2019 08:50

My gran and late Mil used to make potted meat from scratch there is a lot of bone boiling!

Aldi have lots of Angel Delight in their special section this week. I used to eat in loads back then! Everyone did.

Butterscotch Angel Delight - yum!

BikeRunSki · 03/05/2019 16:59

My children still eat Angel Delight. I don’t think it ever went away. We just get up and got more grown up tastes.

I love this all of this food! Party time at Mum & Dad's - I miss being young.
