Easy dessert for xmas day?

I've been tasked with making the xmas dessert this year and I am not the best cook! Anyone have any easy recipes for a nice, light dessert for after xmas dinner?

Fruit cocktail and/or a shop bought Christmas pud

I saw a recipe, if you can call it that, for a layered ice cream thing. It was made in a pyrex bowl lined with cling film and you bought three flavours of ice cream - mint, vanilla and chocolate - and used them to make three separate layers of different colours in the bowls, which you freeze until needed. Then you took it out, turned it out onto a plate, poured melted chocolate over the top and some chocolatey bits to decorate, I forget what they used but you could use crushed mint aero or after eights. It looked really effective.

Posset. Simmer several containers of double cream til you're bored. Lemon zest, bit of juice. Fridge for a bit. Pure heaven. Zabaglione. Whisk eggs sugar and a dollop of Madeira or dessert wine. Heaven attained, again!

Yup to pavlova. Especially with passion fruit

Tiramisu! It’s easy to put together a day or so beforehand and lasts well. I make it every year and always go down well, especially with nice coffee.

Nigella's chocolate pavlova - so easy and always a showstopper. Never comes out of the oven looking quite right: bits fall off; it looks a bit rustic. Then you put cream and raspberries and/or blueberries on top ant suddenly looks the most enticing thing ever. Last year I made it festive by putting some edible gold glitter from Waitrose on it and that was nice. Doesn't really need it though.

Meringue wreath. Meringues are pretty easy in themselves, make it the day before as you'll need to leave it to cool in the oven overnight. Then decorate it in the morning. I like strawberries and mint with pomegranate seeds. Or mango & passionfruit would go down well after a big christmas dinner.

Eton mess. It's the answer to everything.

You couldn't get easier than a trifle I think or cheesecake - basic strawberry cheesecake or perhaps a nice Bailey's cheesecake.

Line a loaf tin with cling film, buy meringue and break up into bits, buy cream and whip, buy frozen berries. Mix all together in a bowl adding grated white chocolate if you fancy. Put in loaf tin, level off. Keep in freezer till needed then remove from tin and ta dah; you can do some fancy decoration on the top if you have the energy.

@Tony2 you need to add caster sugar to the posset, otherwise it's sour. I agree it's the simplest and loveliest pudding- I'm making them in little coffee cups.

I'm very fond of cranachan, which is extremely easy and quite light. Whipped cream, honey, whisky, toasted oatmeal, raspberries. I usually add nice thick full fat strained Greek yoghourt in place of some of the whipped cream.

Trifle. Make it the day before.
Use ready made-custard and Swiss roll or trifle sponges.

Poached pears are a lovely adulty dessert. Just poach pears in red wine and sugar the night before and place in fridge. You can make meringues but I just buy the ready made ones, just as nice. Meringue, whipped cream (Can be done beforehand and stored in fridge), pear on top and some chocolate shavings (which can be done beforehand too). It's really just arranging on plate on Xmas day.

Nigella's easy chocolate mousse - you could use this as a kind of cheesecake filling in wineglasses with a biscuit base.

Apple crumble, perhaps spiced plum and apple to make it more christmassy.

Mont Blanc mess

Good vanilla or coffee ice cream, creme de marrons, crushed meringue, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, chopped nuts in a pretty glass.
