No, it's true, there's little to no evidence that organic is healthier. But it's better for the land, certainly.

organic milk contains higher concentration of omega 3s

We also found we spent less at the supermarket, because we could get bread from the bakery, and a little bit of meat from the butchers, and could actually carry it home on foot. Rather than a huge weekly shop that needs the car. And not going round the supermarket meant not buying those things you see that you think will be fantastic but actually aren't.

NotQuiteCockney · 06/06/2007 11:23

Oh, yes, I see your point. My body isn't a temple, right, I'm off to get some fags then. And I'll eat some gravel, too.

bozza · 06/06/2007 11:23

I'm not that fussed about organic. I am more fussed about local and also fairtrade. I never bought organic before I started on the veg box, and if I buy something from the supermarket - top up, specific ingredient etc I don't buy organic.

I am trying to garden organically. So I have taken to going out at night and bashing slugs with my trowel. However DH does the lawn and is not organic - sprays dandelions and stuff.

I agree with cod

Pruuni · 06/06/2007 11:23

Can't go to shops because none around
Tesco delivery is next best option
What's the differnce? Delivered from Tesco or delivered by farm?
One option I know is morally dodgy (treating farmers badly etc) and one is...not.
Big whoop

bundle · 06/06/2007 11:23

i don't mind your rudeness normally cod but nancy is sacrosanct and i will not tolerate you dissing her

I like not choosing. I like things just appearing and I have to work with them. [ponce]

... thinking about it, a lot of my wardrobe is a bit like that, too. I have clothes that were bought very randomly, or given to me randomly or found places. And I often dress based on what's just been hung up to dry ...

bozza · 06/06/2007 11:28

But cod you go to a poncey gym. At least I stick to the local council place so am allowed the veg box as my ponce factor.

not that bothered about organic but do buy organic milk and carrots, like enid

i am in love with swiss chard and can't get in supermarket

tortoiseSHELL · 06/06/2007 11:29

organic carrots taste better though, I agree with enid! Don't do organic milk because ours comes from the milkman.
