mozzerella

the way Mozzerella behaves when melted then cooled is just like cheese strings. Imaginge, mozzerella, melted, stretched outreally thing, then all the bits compressed back together into sticks - a cheese string!

We got a packet of cheese strings once by mistake in our online shop (some poor Mum somewhere was cheese string-less). I didn't give them to the kids in case they liked them so I ate them all myself - blardy loved 'em (I like plastic cheese anyway and all that peeling...fab).

it's the best comfort food ever

Rachmumoftwo · 30/04/2007 22:08

I am not a cheese snob at all. I just love cheese. It is taking all my will power not to go to the fridge for some right now but I am doing the no food after 6pm thing in the hope I lose some weight.
I could just eat cheese all day until 6- would that work or will I smell like an Atkin's dieter?

Smurfgirl · 30/04/2007 22:10

I love cheese strings, best food ever (slight exaggeration!)

Surfermum · 30/04/2007 22:11

Burgers, onions and a melted processed slice of cheese. Bloody lovely.

I told DS that cheese strings were like cheese that somebody else had chewed and then stuck back together again so I could avoid buying them. Nothing is quite like the pineapple flavoured cheese triangles of my childhood though.

TooTicky · 30/04/2007 22:37

My ds1 tried a cheese string and thought it tasted like rubber. He didn't even finish it.

TLV · 01/05/2007 14:21

my dd loves cheesestrings and so do I, starting to limit how many she can have tho coz i thought they were packed with salt, are they??

Anchovy · 01/05/2007 14:32

A mate told me that she put a cheese string through the dishwasher (it was stuck to a plate or something) and it came through a full wash cycle lookng and tasting exactly the same as when it went in!

Can't be right!

GameGirly · 01/05/2007 14:37

What - she tried it after it had been through the dishwasher?! Bleurgh!

bigcar · 01/05/2007 14:45

compressed rubber bands!

iota · 01/05/2007 14:48

not this old argument again - here's a quote from their website:

What are Cheestrings?
Cheestrings are 100% real cheese which can be peeled apart into dozens of strings.

What makes Cheestrings stringy?
The Cheestrings cheese is stretched when we make it but no other ingredients are added at all.

What else is in Cheestrings?
Just 100% Real Cheese in White Cheddar Variety and a little natural colour (Annatto) in the Original and Twister varieties. Annatto is a plant extract and is commonly used in coloured traditional cheeses like Red Leicester.
