Just that really, I'm interested to know. Also, where do you buy your food? We have two freezers which means that I'm able to shop monthly and I do the main food shop in Aldi then top up with milk/fruit/veg/incidentals at my local co op How about you?

Family of four 60-70 per week. Mostly Aldi, meat local butcher. Lots of meal planning.

Scoobydoobydont · 10/09/2017 12:31

Mum,dad, one kid in juniors one just started secondary,

Easy £400 a week if you include one takeaway and one meal out.

Bluesheep8 · 10/09/2017 12:46

I forgot to put what my spend is: approx £120 for the main monthly shop in Aldi and then £170 for fresh "as and when" things from the co op. Lots of meal planning and pre cooking on a Sunday. There are two of us plus a cat....

Family of 4. DC 19 and 22 and both at home having gap years. Including toiletries and cleaning stuff, modest beer and wine, about £200 and for that we really aren't living on a diet of smoked salmon and fillet steak. We do have fish, meat, veg, fruit, salad stuff, cold meat, cheeses, yoghurt, nice cereal, etc. Typical dinners in a week are: roast chicken, cod bake, casserole, pasta, Gammon, egg and chips.

Well aware I CD shave £80pw off but I don't have to, don't have time to shop around, cook everything from scratch and I like Sainsbury's. Three of us are working full time and we don't spend on takeaways. I don't include eating out in the total.

ilovetocook · 10/09/2017 20:17

Family of 6 here with multiple allergies to deal with and we spend about £500 a month on food. This includes 2 online Tesco shops for safe milks , aldi and Lidl weekly shop for basics , once a month at asda for safe cereal and one or two bits of free from items at sainsburys. A lot of different shops but it's the only way. The cost includes loo roll, baby wipes, washing up liquid and weekly bottle of wine.

tigercub50 · 10/09/2017 20:23

scooby £400 a week??

dairymilkmonster · 10/09/2017 20:24

£100-£110
2 adults, ds1 is 6, ds2 is 2
weekly online tesco shop £70-90, then rest is waitrose/ sainsburys local top ups of fresh stuff / things we run out of / forgotten items. Don't drink so no alcohol.
Cost includes non food items like washing powder, loo roll etc plus cat food ( about £8 per week).... so actual food not full cost.
I could cut it back considerably if needed, but at present this is affordable for.

tigercub50 · 10/09/2017 20:25

Mine varies but I am not always very organised so end up doing top ups & buying stuff we don't really need. Use either Tesco or Asda & we have a big new Lidl which is good too. Average weekly shop for 3 of us is £60. Very rarely eat out or have takeaways.

Scoobydoobydont · 10/09/2017 22:49

scooby £400 a week??

Yep.

By food shop I am including everything we eat and drink.

It's £14 a day each. Lunch can easily cost that. Bacon and eggs for breakfast. A few beers, a couple of bottle of wine, a few takeaways, a meal out

LittleBearPad · 10/09/2017 22:50

£150ish a week. Two adults, two children.

wobblywonderwoman · 10/09/2017 22:54

80 a week 2 adults 2 under fours
I batch cook so no waste and steak once a week. Balance that cost by having a pasta pesto night. That includes most meals and packed lunches and cleaning products.

MrsMargeSimpson · 10/09/2017 22:58

£400 a week Hmm

It varies but anything from £50-80pw depending on what we already have in, what the meal plan is etc. I shop with Tesco online.

2a 3c (under 10).

Changednamejustincase · 10/09/2017 23:03

Until recently ours was £450 a month but the last couple of months it has really increased and I'm aiming to get it back down again. We are 2 adults and 3 under 8s. It was £700 last month which isn't sustainable for us if we want to do things other than eat.

CaretakerToNuns · 10/09/2017 23:08

Where do you shop, scooby? Harrods?

ReinettePompadour · 10/09/2017 23:11

If I stick to menus I can keep the food bill to around £60pw for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The eldest feed themselves while out and about generally.

Obviously with washing powder, cleaning products, toiletries its around twice that figure.

Chatoyant · 10/09/2017 23:42

£70ish a week food shop plus a Friday night takeaway about £30. That's 2 adults and 2 children.

Floralnomad · 10/09/2017 23:49

Family of four all 18+ including one coeliac , we spend about £100 in assorted shops but mainly Marks and Tesco and about £100 on take aways / lunches out . That's no alcohol ( all t total).

harlandgoddard · 10/09/2017 23:52

£60 a week online shop Asda. 2 adults, 1 toddler and a dog.

Have a Lidl about 10 mins away which I'm keen to try but 2 year old DD hates food shopping so I've decided it's more hassle than it's worth for now.

TheWeeWitch · 10/09/2017 23:54

2 adults, a child and a baby here. We spend between £100-£130 per week at Waitrose or Ocado. That includes food, alcohol, toiletries etc., and another £20-30 at the local farm shop for fresh fruit and veg.

user1473069303 · 11/09/2017 11:01

Too much.

Not in the UK or Ireland so no point going into detail but unless we make a conscious effort to be careful the costs just spiral out of control - especially when we're both tired as it's so easy to nip out and spend a fortune and have nothing much to show for it. There's just the two of us but we love our food, drink and coffee (unfortunately).

Right now we're trying to budget and base recipes on what we already have in the freezer and cupboards.

iamUberA · 11/09/2017 11:02

Just me and 1 dd age 8, costs about £40 a week roughly, depending on what needs topping up

SleepFreeZone · 11/09/2017 11:03

I bet if we calculated all the food and drink we put in our mouths per week it would be a hell of a lot more than we think!

Food shop for four including everything - toiletries, beer, meat etc. About £120-150

SleepFreeZone · 11/09/2017 11:04

I often get birthday presents and cards from the supermarket too if there's an offer so the total amount is not just for food. Food alone I just don't know.

TonySoppyrano · 11/09/2017 11:06

We shop online with Tesco and get two deliveries a week. Delivery is a minimum of £40 so we have to spend £80 to get delivery. We tend to buy extra and freeze. We're usually around this figure of £80 per week for me, DH and the dog.

We have some weeks where we're able to use up stuff we've stored in the freezer and just top up with some salad and vegetables. This is probably once every two months.

KarateKitten · 11/09/2017 11:06

Mine has rocketed from £80/wk to £100/wk with my 3 preschoolers appetites getting a bit bigger and all the bloody price increases. That includes all food for 5 of us and childminder. Also all household goods and nappies etc.
