Bluesheep8 · 10/09/2017 12:22

Just that really, I'm interested to know. Also, where do you buy your food? We have two freezers which means that I'm able to shop monthly and I do the main food shop in Aldi then top up with milk/fruit/veg/incidentals at my local co op How about you?

2 adults, 2 kids one being a food hoover teenager, £45 a week.
Just got back Aldi and my bill was £42 for the week.

No alcohol and I bought only sandwich ham, no other meat this week. Using up freezer stuff. (Summer holidays have absolutely skint us, so it's Very basic food shopping throughout September)

MusicToMyEars800 · 11/09/2017 11:08

Between £180-£200 a fortnight, That's for 2 DC'S and 2 Adults, and includes all toiletries and household cleaning items and a couple of bottles of wine, Plus lunch stuff for DP and DC
I shop online with Morrisons,
And do milk and bread top ups if needed at Tesco Express which is just around the corner from where I live.

RhubardGin · 11/09/2017 11:10

Scoobydoobydont

£400 a week for four people? Just....how?

You need to get on "Eat Well For Less" because that's ridiculous.

Confused
MusicToMyEars800 · 11/09/2017 11:12

Tbh, Ours is probably more that my previous post if you add on Takeaways and the odd meal out, Or those time where we really fancy something that we don't have in the kitchen Grin

StewPots · 11/09/2017 11:17

Anything from £70-£120 per week on average with 2 adults, 2DC and sometimes extra people like DD's BF or my DM. We also have a dog.

The online shop I just had delivered was £120 (Sainsbury's) but that included loads of meat, cleaning and household stuff, and stock up items as the cupboards, fridge and freezer were pretty empty!

Next week I'll probably spend half that as it will just be add on bits and top up of fresh food.

Anatidae · 11/09/2017 11:18

About 150-200 a week. Minimum. Two adults one toddler.

Food is much more expensive here than the uk. A simple lunch out is 20-30 each

LoyaltyAndLobster · 11/09/2017 11:20

I really don't understand why people have Hmm at Scoobydoobydont comment, it is not a ridiculous amount to spend per week on shopping at all!

Troika · 11/09/2017 11:21

Too bloody much
Family of 5. One in nappies and I've failed on the reusable front this time.

Usually about £100-120 a week.
This includes all meals for everyone
Snacks
Cleaning products
Nappies/wipes
Some toiletries

We probably eat out or get a takeaway twice a month though too.

Avebury · 11/09/2017 11:22

All in so toiletries, laundry products, bin liners etc. it's probably about £150/week.
That's two adults and 3 primary aged children.
Fruit is a massive chunk of that.

Troika · 11/09/2017 11:23

I should add that I don't buy exactly what we're going to eat that week, I stock up on cupboard stuff and meat etc when it's offer. I'd find it quite hard to accurately price up our weeks meals.

AnnabelleLecter · 11/09/2017 11:23

Shop all over mainly M&S, Waitrose, Co-op, Tesco express, Sainsbury's, local deli, butcher, bakers, Iceland.
Normally get 2-3 days worth of main meals at a time usually spend approx £100-120 a week, me DH, teen DC. Eat out a couple of times a week.

Only shop I hate is Aldi- fruit and veg is awful and I hate how they throw shopping at you.

IStoleThisUsername · 11/09/2017 11:24

Me, 2 teens and 1 newborn. £100 a week but that's food, nappies and cleaning/toiletries.

fleshmarketclose · 11/09/2017 12:02

3 adults,1 teen, (various waifs and strays every week) I aim for no more than £100 per week. I'm mostly successful but I cook everything from scratch and bake weekly so what I save on costs I make up for in time and effort. Shop mostly at Morrisons with a few things I buy from Iceland as they are cheaper eggs, part baked bread, flour, stork mostly.

Kraggle · 11/09/2017 12:10

2 adults, one 4 year old at school now and a 6 month old just starting to wean along with 2 cats. Shopping can be between £60-£85 a week depending on if we need cat food/washing powder/nappies that week etc.

We normally shop at Asda and every now and again go to Aldi as that's where we get our wipes and nappies from.

Teddy7878 · 11/09/2017 12:14

Just me, my DP and the cat and we spend about £90 pw. We could cut it down but we like to eat things like good quality steak which bumps the price up

LBOCS2 · 11/09/2017 12:33

We budget £400 a month. Probably closer to £450 once DH and I have nipped to the shops a couple of times too. We get Ocado delivered, at about £75 a week, plus £25 on top up bits from Aldi. Two adults, a 4yo, 1yo in nappies and DSS who is with us half the time but has just started eating and eating and eating and eating...

Chrisinthemorning · 11/09/2017 17:31

Think we've spent £100 this week divided between Aldi and farm shop. That's for 2 adults and a 5 year old and included 3 bottles of wine.

Oly5 · 11/09/2017 17:36

£160pw, 2 adults, 2 kids. Endless soft fruit, some wine, nappies

notthegumdropbuttons · 11/09/2017 17:36

Usually £120 for 2adults 2dcs (3 and 4), Lidl and Tesco. Includes toiletries and occasionally meat from the market.

Orangeplastic · 11/09/2017 19:13

Used to be a lot more, 2 adults and 2 not very hungry teens and a skinny dog. Dh used to spend around £12-15 on lunch and coffee every day - he's now taking a packed lunch when he can and limiting himself to one coffee. I've cut the food bill down to between £120-150. We're buying cheaper wine, I doubt we're buying cheaper beer - dh does the alcohol shopping. Dog's food is around £20- £25 per week. We used to do all our shopping in Waitrose - now I only buy the dog's food and our meat in Waitrose - Sainsbury's for everything else.

Bananamama1213 · 11/09/2017 22:13

Family of 4 and a cat.
DH eats meat, I don't. 5 and 4 year old.

We average between £50-£60 on a big shop (including toiletries, cat food etc) and then £20 for top ups throughout the week.

We use Asda for main shop (get delivered) and Morrisons, co-op or one stop as we pass them for top ups.

BlairAndChuck · 14/09/2017 02:16

£30-45 at Lidl for 2 adults once a week, both vegetarian which keeps the cost quite low, we also do a once every month/two month shop of around £50 of weird pantry food from dp home country

MrsPworkingmummy · 14/09/2017 02:37

I'd hate to think what we spend. At home, it's my DH, DD, a cat and I and our average weekly food shops costs been £80 and £120 depending on whether we buy cleaning products, alcohol and cat food etc. We cook all meals from scratch, but only cook about 4 times a week. We have tea at MIL once a week, get a take away every Friday and usually have tea out each Saturday which can cost anything from £70-100 additiomally a week. We are also on a wine plan with Laithwaites which costs around £120 a time to get a 12 bottle case delivered every couple of months. We shop at Sainsburys and Asda.
Our weekly meals include a Sunday roast at lunchtime, a cheese board night for tea on a Sunday night, then usually things like curries, pasta, chicken in various sauces with rice etc mid-week.

shinny · 14/09/2017 02:56

So far this week Ive spent 140. Usually spent about 150-200 including alcohol and two packed lunches and all cleaning stuff. Family of 5 and Ive been trying to meal plan but food is very expensive here and I refuse to buy from certain countries.

MyDcAreMarvel · 14/09/2017 03:08

Loyalty that's nearly £21k a year on good . Of course it's ridiculous. Scooby if your income is high enough to afford £400 a week, at least knock £100 a week off and send it to the food bank.
