Please. I'm tired, bit fed up, not very good in the kitchen, but needing something tasty. Give me ideas people!

Alternatively, marinate a chopped up tomato in olive oil and chopped garlic (with dried basil, oregano, salt and pepper) while spaghetti cooks then toss into drained pasta and top with a wee bit of grated cheese. I sometimes add bacon to this but often just have it as is.

Sausage tray bake - mix sausages and chopped carrots, beetroot, parsnips, red onions with a little olive oil and a dollop of caramelised onion chutney. Roast for about 45 mins.

Spicy prawn noodle soup - brig some chickens stock to the boil and add garlic, ginger, chillis and a splash of fish sauce. Throw in some prawns and veg (mange tout, baby corn, mushrooms, sliced peppers) and simmer until the prawns are pink. Add some instant noodles.

Mince and cabbage stirfry - Stir fry some pork mince with chilli, minced garlic and ginger. Add a splash of soy and some finely sliced cabbage. Add cooked instant noodles and mix together

Shakshuska - soften sliced onion and peppers, tip in a tin of chopped tomatoes, add some paprika and simmer. Make some holes in the mix, crack an egg into each and cover until set. Serve with bread.

Pasta, while that's cooking fry chopped bacon and mushrooms, add either chopped fresh tomatoes or a can of tomatoes.

Or, pasta again, add broccoli to pasta water for last few mins, crumble blue cheese over to serve.

Both served with a mixed salad.

If you don't want pasta use rice instead.

Pizza wraps!
Wrap, tomato sauce (with purée not ketchup), cheese and then whatever you've got in the cupboard. Past week we did veggie sausage, sweet potato and peppers. Really quick, really yummy !

Also pasta mixed with pesto, topped with parmesan, simple, quick and tasty.

Salmon fillets that have been marinated in soy sauce, ginger, garlic and honey, Pan fry or bake serve with tenderstem broccoli and noodles, takes about 15-20 mins to cook.

Delia's pasta puttanesca. 10 mins of prep, then leave it to cook down. Delicious and bubbling away on my job right now!

We've just had this, it's a real favourite in our house.

Cook enough pasta for however many you're feeding. Pan fry some diced chicken breasts and add a chopped pepper or two and once cooked stir in a tin of chopped tomatoes, a tin of cream of tomato soup and enough Cajun spice to your taste (I've just stirred a tub of creme fraiche in with it too). Once piping hot, drain the pasta, mix it all together and serve.

More of an aromatic sweet potato sauce than curry to go with noodles. No exact measuring needed as worked for me however done.

Fry garlic, ginger (I use frozen) and half to one red chopped red chilli for a minute, add a little turmeric then about half a low salt veg stock cube and some boiling water. Lob in a shake or two of low salt soy sauce, a big spoonful of peanut butter, a little spoonful of brown sugar and one or two peeled, chopped sweet potatoes. Simmer for a bit until it thickens, sling in a handful of frozen green beans for the last couple of minutes and stir through a couple of chopped spring onions before pouring over noodles with some stir fried baby corn and broccoli if you want.

Takes about 25 mins from getting peeler in your hand to dishing it out.

2 all-in-one meals:
Put chicken pieces (on the bone - I use thighs), sausages, chunks of potato & chunks of onion into a large plastic food bag (or use a bowl), chuck in some oil, mustard (and herbs if you have them/fancy them - tarragon is good) and salt & pepper; seal and squish it about so the liquids coat the meat & veg. If not cooking straight away this can sit in the fridge (improves the flavours). When ready to cook, just roast it all together. Easily adapted to the number of people you need to feed and you could add other veggies.(This is a simplified Jamie Oliver job).

Vegetarian meal: dice white and sweet potatoes, leaving the sweet potatoes bigger than they white as they cook faster. Put in a roasting tray with red/yellow/orange peppers in largish chunks & red onion chunks. Drizzle olive oil over (or other oil), season, roast for about 30 minutes. Add slices of halloumi cheese & return to the oven for about 10 minutes. Delicious with mayonnaise!

Easy and tasty - tortilla into a dry frying pan, top with cheese, chopped peppers and pepperoni or other cooked meat. Add more grated cheese and another tortilla. Once the cheese melts a bit to stick it together flip it over til both sides are a bit toasted. Once done, plate up, slice with the pizza cutter and dip into shop bought guacamole.

Jaimx86 · 10/06/2017 19:30

Mussels with white wine and garlic and onion. Takes about 4 mins to cook once garlic and onion is chopped. So yum.

originalbiglymavis · 10/06/2017 19:30

Box of baby tomatoes, cut in half. Slice onion and mix with some olive oil, salt and herbs. Roast in hot oven for about 40 mins and it's really nice stirred into pasta. Can also use it on pizza bases (just add cheese).

NapQueen · 10/06/2017 19:34

Jamie Olivers sausage bake.

Shit load of cherry toms in an oven dish, chopped garlic, lashings of balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Dried herbs and seasoning. Mix. Chuck in six sausages. Mix. Shove in the oven for 40mins.

Serve with some french baguette and butter.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/06/2017 19:36

The thing we do that looks/tastes like hard work but is in reality one of the easiest things ever = mushroom and stilton pies.

Fry onions, garlic and mushrooms. Add red wine and cook down a bit to evaporate. Shove in pie dishes and shove crumbled Stilton on top. Top with pastry and shove in the oven. Take just over half an hour and are gorgeous.

originalbiglymavis · 10/06/2017 19:37

From student days - fry a sliced
onion , add green pepper and some sausages. Then add baked beans and halved tomatoes. Cook for about 20 mins and it's lovely!

Frouby · 10/06/2017 19:41

Roast veg pasta.

One of those prepacked Mediterranean veg packs from supermarket. Or even frozen med veg.

Cook in oven. Cook pasta.

Just as veg is done add 1 ball of mozerrala cheese and a couple of inch of tomato puree. Rerurn to oven until cheese bubbly. Add to pasta and mix. Fuckton of black pepper and jobs a good un.

Another cheap and cheerful one is mayflower chicken curry. £1 per box that serves 9 from b and m. You need onions, garden peas and whatever meat you fancy. Cook as per instructions and serve with fried rice. As nice as chinese curry sauce.

Nymerialuna · 10/06/2017 19:49

Cut up some chicken and mix 3 tbsps of Soya Sauce, Honey and balsamic vinegar. Marinate chicken in the sauce for 30 minutes ideally (but don't worry if you haven't got time for that).
Chuck it all in a pan and cook for about 20 minutes on a lowish heat until the chicken is fully cooked then whack the heat up until the sauce goes thick and sticky.
Smells ike it will taste rank until it's cooked but it tastes amazing.
I generally serve it with some noodles, beansprout, sugarsnaps and water chestnuts.

Nymerialuna · 10/06/2017 19:52

Cook some spaghetti, while it's cooking fry some chopped up bacon and garlic in olive oil. Once the spaghetti is cooked and drained, add it to the bacon and garlic and toss it through.
Or you can take a cup of the cooking water from the spaghetti and add this to the bacon mix, add a can of chopped tomatoes and then mix in the spaghetti.

ditzychick34 · 10/06/2017 19:52

Smoked salmon pasta
Cook pasta, stir in pack of smoked salmon trimmings, some creme fresh, lemon juice and dill. Done

Nymerialuna · 10/06/2017 19:55

Macaroni cheese but made with tomato soup instead of milk (this is a family recipe from my nan and my very large family will not make it any other way!)
Easier than regular macaroni cheese and you don't need to worry about making a roux, just heat the soup and add in as much cheese as you want. Still in cooked macaroni (or other pasta) and you're done. 20 mins max and pretty cheap.

ditzychick34 · 10/06/2017 19:58

Not quick but very easy
Mix of chicken breasts and legs into a deep baking tray, big bits of potato, quarters of red onion, garlic and some carrots and parsnips. Roast for 90 minutes. I add a salad and bread, serves loads really cheaply and looks fab in the middle of the table for a party

RoystonVaseySmegHead · 10/06/2017 20:01

Cheese and egg on a plate. (Nicer than it sounds)
Grate cheese, sprinkle it on a plate and leave a fist sized circle in the middle, crack 2 eggs in the middle, then sprinkle enough cheese on to cover the whites. Pour a bit of milk (enough to cover the cheese but not drown it) onto the plate and add pepper... bung in the oven for 10 minutes on number 4/5 gas... it's lush. Can serve with gammon/bacon/sausages or chips.

Teatowelfairy · 10/06/2017 20:08

Royston you've brought back childhood memories of cheese and egg. Mmmm.
Gotta be Lancashire cheese though. Wink

MrsD79 · 10/06/2017 20:09

Egg fried rice.. boil rice and frozen peas togerher - takes about 5 mins..leave aside to cool. Cook scrambled eggs..add cold cooked rice peas and a chopped pepper to the pan..add salt pepper curry powder... about a spoon each. Eat immediately. Can also add spring onion. Cooked meat/poultry. If too dry serve with chilli sauce..curry sauce etc.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 10/06/2017 20:13

Once the cheese melts a bit to stick it together flip it over til both sides are a bit toasted. Once done, plate up, slice with the pizza cutter and dip into shop bought guacamole.

This, but I also add whatever else is in the fridge, mashed potato, sweet corn from a tin, and I don't fry, I just fill the gorilla, fold in two, press, brush with olive oil and bake in the oven.
