What do you eat for breakfast to stay full until lunch?

I'm not a big breakfast eater but because of that I swear I spend most of my mornings perpetually hungry at uni and then have to fight the urge not to eat my lunch by about 11am. The other day I had three scotch pancakes with loads of butter, a babybell, and a nutri-grain bar (and obligatory cup of tea) for breakfast and was actually full until lunchtime. It was brill.

I've tried eating cereal but the portion sizes on the box are so tiny but then I worry if I eat much more it's bad for me...but then again not as bad as eating lots of crap snack stuff before lunch surely. If you eat cereal do you stick with the recommended portion sizes?

What and how much do you eat for breakfast to keep full until lunch??

2 pieces of toast with whole earth peanut butter or sugar free museli mixed with Greek yoghurt.

Ta1kinPeace · 10/02/2017 20:47

I don't

I gave up breakfast 30 years ago
I'm nadgered without a pint of tea
but food at the start of the day is a no no

On gym days or work days, nothing solid till 12.30 works just fine

helensburgh · 10/02/2017 20:53

Granola and yogurt does me till teatime.

GangstaRat · 10/02/2017 20:54

Durrrrr second breakfast.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 10/02/2017 21:02

Toasted bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon

PippilottaViktualia · 10/02/2017 21:04

Pint of water, 2 boiled eggs mixed up in a small bowl with butter and a pot of rooibos tea.

SinglePringle · 10/02/2017 21:04

Another vote for eggs. 2 scrambled eggs and half an avocado (no bread etc) at 8.30 this morning kept me full till 2pm. Had a lot of water as well.

BikeRunSki · 10/02/2017 21:07

This morning I had some scrambled eggs, a veggie sausage and some baked beans and then only needed a cup of tea and a banana before 6pm.

Overnight oats - much less hassle than porridge
40g oats, mixed with muller light yogurt, topped with raspberries out of the freezer.
I use a container with a lid and put it in the fridge.
The berries defrost overnight and I give it a mix in the morning

Boiled egg and a small pot of greek yogurt

GVmama · 10/02/2017 21:13

Porridge, shredded wheat with added fruit and nuts/ seeds, or peanut butter in a toasted wholemeal pitta bread. Nothing else fills me up until lunch time.
(I can't face eggs/ beans etc in the morning).

MumBod · 10/02/2017 21:15

Porridge with a tablespoon of peanut butter stirred into it, and a mug of tea.

Breakfast of champions.

Whoknowswhoknows · 10/02/2017 21:16

Ditch the carbs! Full fat yogurt with seeds and nuts. I add some fruit in as well. If I eat carby stuff I'm shaky and starving 2 hours later.

eckythumpenallthat · 10/02/2017 21:18

Nothing will keep me going till dinner! I have breakfast at half 6 and dinner at one. Got to have a snack mid morning. Not good going 6 hours without refuelling!

But typical breakfasts are

Greek yoghurt fruit and nuts
Porridge and various fillings/toppings
Poached/dippy/scrambled eggs n wholemeal/rye toast
Smoked Mackerel fillets
Bacon n eggs

oldlaundbooth · 10/02/2017 21:19

Two breakfasts is a good idea too, especially if you wake up early. A slice of wholemeal toast with peanut butter and banana then an Apple and some cheese mid morning. Doesn't have to be lots but will keep you going.

mollyblack · 10/02/2017 21:21

Strong coffee when i get up, then two hard boiled eggs and a banana mid morning.

I boil up a load of eggs on a sunday night for the week.

Groovee · 10/02/2017 21:22

Porridge made with water, add in a flavoured yoghurt and lots of berries.

Weetabix made with milk and fruit mixed in.

Over night oats, which is porridge oats, mixed with 200g of yoghurt and fruit. Left in the fridge overnight.

MadgeMak · 10/02/2017 21:22

Smoothie made from frozen berries, spinach, almond milk and a scoop of protein powder, and a boiled egg.

Blazedandconfused · 10/02/2017 21:28

2 weetabix or overnight oats- slimming world quantities as mentioned above.

If I get chance, an apple or banana at 11.15. And a cup of tea.

I eat a lot less when I'm busy at work. At home I'll graze on crumpets and toast all morning and have an early lunch with the kids.

Ta1kinPeace · 10/02/2017 21:29

question to the other posters .....
how many of you are BMI 18-22 ?
as in lean and mean

Doje · 10/02/2017 21:31

Porridge with half a banana and raisins. Then a mug of black coffee mid morning.

Tubbyinthehottub · 10/02/2017 21:34

Nothing really works for me. No matter how big my breakfast, I still need a mid morning snack.

Blazedandconfused · 10/02/2017 21:37

My bmi is 25. I'm trying to lose a bit of baby weight so trained myself to eat a bit less than I'd like to. Should then be about the right amount to maintain a bmi of about 22/23 when I get there.

hmcAsWas · 10/02/2017 21:39

Scrambled egg and salmon - still a bit peckish around 11 though so usually have a banana then

BIWI · 10/02/2017 21:41

Either ditch the carbs, or give breakfast a miss altogether!
