me what they are all about? More from a host point of view than a guest.
TIA.

Well you don't get any food like the name implies.. so guess that means you, as host, don't have to provide any.

Loads of overpriced pans and shit. Gah!

scatterbrain · 07/02/2007 20:45

OK - Pampered Chef lady comes to your house, you buy some ingredients and invite lots of friends (ideally 10 or so). You provide drinks, people usually bring some too - Pampered Chef lady shows you how to use the kit whilst making a pre-arranged recipe which she will cook in your oven (note - clean it first !) and then you and your friends get to eat the results whilst they fill in their order forms and buy things !! You get a % commission to spend plus some hostess goodies.

All the washing up goes home with the PC lady !!

It's good fun - but the stuff is pricey so you need to invite some people with disposable income !

lulumama · 07/02/2007 20:46

hmm...really expensive kitchen ware

some quite nice gadgety things, but pricey

also, the one i went to went on tooooooo long....

the sales person did a very long talk and then a very slow demo, and we did not eat until 11.00 , i then was too cross to order, not that i could afford much!

if you do host one, make sure it is not a 3 hour epic!

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 07/02/2007 20:48

So you actually get a meal then? I haven't been to one (I'm not the 'disposable income type' for sure!) but my friend went.. she couldn't afford a thing either.. and they didn't get offered anything but a plate of biscuits!

lulumama · 07/02/2007 20:49

really shiny!!?

they are supposed to demonstrate how easy cooking for the family is with the super duper pampered chef gadgets is !

wurlywurly · 07/02/2007 20:50

i have one a couple of weeks ago and the lady cooked waffle berry pudding which was lovely, the party that i went to before that she made mexican chicken ring (spicy chicken pie) which was really nice.

scatterbrain · 07/02/2007 20:50

They HAVE to do a recipe - it's in their contract !

lulumama · 07/02/2007 20:51

the one i went to did some mexican thing too

scatterbrain · 07/02/2007 20:51

OOhhhh I love waffle berry pudding and the Mexican ring thing - I have made them both since - so easy and so impressive !!

I do love PC - specially the stoneware !

wurlywurly · 07/02/2007 20:53

do you have stoneware scatterbrain?? I got one of the large pieces of stone with my point and havent used it yet(think i'm a bit scared of what to cook in it).

scatterbrain · 07/02/2007 20:56

Ooooh yes - I do have stoneware !!

I have a small bar pan which I have been using for 4 yrs now to cook dd's nuggets, fish fingers, smiley faces etc. I have a pizza stone, which I use for pizza, and for larger amounts of the above, also oven chips, hash browns etc

Latest purchase is a lovely deep dish pie plate thing - with white exterior ! That is fab for crumbles, lemon meringue pies, any other pies etc.

I love stoneware !!!

pianist · 07/02/2007 20:58

Lots of good products but very overpriced. Lakeland have similar things but more affordable.
Think the stoneware is rubbish - looks nice when you get it, but very soon looks black and unhygienic!

wurlywurly · 07/02/2007 20:58

right will dig it out tomorrow and cook something in it, even if its just oven chips. Oooh meant to ask the lady, can you cook cakes in it??

scatterbrain · 07/02/2007 21:00

Oh yes - if it is cake shaped of course !!

It's not unhygienic - it's seasoned ! It works better once it goes dark - naturally non-stick !

chocolatebirdy · 07/02/2007 21:04

Ah i see! Friend is having one but she wasnt really sure what it involved! PC lady rang her up about numbers as they needed to discuss food and friends shopping list but friend didnt realise that she would have to shop for it! Am not of the disposable income type either and am already meant to be going out on the town with SIL (who is also invited) so in that case will stick to original plan!

pampered chef

if you cant afford to buy anything then book a party, the host gets everything on points and would then get an extra 200 points for you booking a party, this is what i did at my friends party as i was skint and only spent £5.

stitch · 07/02/2007 21:12

i think the stonewar e is fab, but i wash it. not only in the sink, but also in the dishwasher. works beutifully.
the brioche thing she made is now a stapel at my, not very regular dinner parties. absolutley scrumptious.
yes, the best deal is whenyou host a party. expensive stuff, but all the more expensive stuff i have bought, i have used loads and loads

scatterbrain · 07/02/2007 21:15

You don't HAVE to buy anything and there are lots of smaller items - like bamboo spoons and a really useful little gadget for opening the cellophane on packets - that's only about £2.50 I think - the thing is not to get caried away - I always set myself a notional limit and try not to exceed it !! Last one I went to I had listed £187 worth of items - got it down to about £60 - but was severely tempted.

By the way - it is pricey but is excellent quality. I have said for years that you can get the same in lakeland for half the price - but am now convinced of the quality of PC - plus they will replace thinsg if they break. My friend dropped her pizza stone and got a new one - the consultant told PC it shattered in the oven !

satine · 07/02/2007 21:25

I've just signed up as a consultant after buying some items from a friend's party - they were so good that I thought the only way I'd be able to afford to get more would be by becoming a consultant! And I love kitchen stuff, it's a real weakness of mine.

Yes, the stuff is expensive but it is top quality, imo. And I can assure you that my demos are quick, informative and you get plenty to eat!!

worleythewisp · 07/02/2007 21:27

i love stonewear too!!!!
it is expensive but well worth it.
i got the kiddies mini muffin tray too but have only used it about twice, its too big to fit in my washing up tub and dishwasher!!
the best thing i brought from pc is the microwave steamer/cooker thing. i use it EVERY day. its been really handy scince weaning ds2 as i can pop his veg in there to cook in the microwave for 5 mins and hey presto his dinner is served! all fresh and home made.

my pc lady has sales once a year where she gets rid of all the extra stuff they give her when she has sold Xamount of things, so she has some bargins then.

scatterbrain · 07/02/2007 21:27

Oh well done satine - I toyed with the idea myself a month or so ago - but as I already work full time and often work in the evenings catching up I just couldn't - but I really wanted the kit and the apron !!!

wurlywurly · 07/02/2007 21:27

satine i would love to sign up but i dont have a car, so would be a little restricted as to where i could do parties.

expatinscotland · 07/02/2007 21:27

my sister gave me quite a bit of it when she was a consultant and i have to say, all the pieces are still going strong despite heavy use over the course of 8 years.

scatterbrain · 07/02/2007 21:28

Oh yes - I use the microwave steamer EVERY single day - it is fabulous - how could I have forgotten it !!
