Yes, bags will work. If you have freezer space, put bag into container like a jug to keep soup together until it's frozen.

My mum freezers soup in tubs, then once it's frozen runs hot water on tub so soup pops out easily, sticks it in a bag and reuses the tub. I suggested she just does it in bags in the first place, but she likes the soup to be in a stackable shape!!

Yes have done it with chicken stock. Double top over and open it as wide as you can -otherwise...well, you can imagine...

BrandyTutter · 21/12/2006 16:40

oh yes. hadn't thought about process of getting soup into said bags...

do you have any pyrex dishes or any other freezable containers?
you can put the bag in the dish to hold its shape and freeze it then take it out of the dish

BrandyTutter · 21/12/2006 16:53

a couple of pyrex bowls iota, but may need them over xmas

Rang a business in Wargrave thinking it was a business rather than a one man band, picked his brains. I think he thought I was quaite mad.

He suggested getting your yellow pages for Reading out and you should be able to get something there.

HTH

SherlockLGJ · 21/12/2006 16:56

But you can take the bag out of the dish when it is frozen and just stack the shape and keep the dish.

PartridgeinaRustyBearTree · 21/12/2006 16:56

If your freezer shelves/drawers are deep enough, you can put the freezer bags in a juice carton with the top cut off - makes a very stackable shape.

nice one partridge

BrandyTutter · 21/12/2006 16:58

my prob atm is figuring out how to get the soup into the bags in the first place without losing half of it on the work surface

i do appreciate your help, btw. sorry fpr being a domestic novice

Wash them out very thoroughly.

Dry them, and then pour the soup into them, do not fill it to the top leave room for expansion. Hey Presto soup in a bottle
