Oh I know, they are just being kind. But when ds has already said no thanks the first time of asking, and when I have said "please not because we're just about to have dinner" the second time of asking, you would think that would be the end of the subject really, wouldn't you?

Hey Franny, quick hijack, did you read my thread "Another day from hell..." I thought you would enjoy considering how much you relished the purple vomit story!

against better judgement, weak from 24 hours with 15 overly hearty in-laws, allowed dd (who is 9m) to be fed a hideous fondant iced sponge cake. of course she loved it. Once she was fully in the grip of her first ever major sugar high, eyes on stalks etc have to admit I handed her to the offending relative 'for a nice cuddle'. a sicky cuddle, ha ha ha.

Oh Overrun I did

I was speechless actually, you poor thing, and I know you were not having a great week anyway

You can make it part of the speech on their wedding day or something, make sure you get your revenge

I hate to say it but my dh used to be (and still is at times) a nightmare in this regard. His family are decidedly 'sweeter' than mine and always have puddings (trifle, queen of, eton mess etc) with every meal and often I find I'm hungry after the main meal as they have two pieces of carrot and a small floret of broc to leave room for the pudding (I swear!) My children were getting sweets every time they went in the car, choc or crisps every other night etc. Now we have Fri night as choc night, wed night as crisp night and sweets in the car perhaps once a week (2 tangfastics only) It suits both of us and the kids love having a designated night for things - they get excited and the Fri bath is really short too which suits us again!!
I gave up being ever so slightly anal about their food once I realised that it was either a few treats or divorce - it made me relax pretty damn fast!lol
