JennyleEvil - couscous is actually made of pasta flour (although it looks like a grain) - it is pretty bland on its own, but is nice with other flavours and kids love it. I just buy the plain stuff, put it in a bowl, dot with butter and salt and pepper, and pour over boiling water (enough to cover). leave 5 mins, stir and it's ready. You can eat it plain like that (as if it's pasta/rice) or incorporate it into other dishes - hot or cold (nice mixed with roasted veggies and crumbled cheese for example)

Queenmummy · 23/10/2006 18:36

PS slackstockmistress, Cod, Tutter - agree on the smugness - have just read my earlier post and feel a bit - didn't mean to sound like that, honest! I just love cooking and eating good food, and I'm a bit evangelical about it - sometimes I think that comes across as smug - I really don't mean to - I just wish lots of people who can't/won't cook would give it more of a try

munz · 25/10/2006 10:12

is this still going on??

cod I told u the point of it at teh start, we're starting off making more from scratch, so I wanted to know in general what ppl had in their cupboards - cos i'm nosey so I can make more variety in foods etc. not to make ppl feel bad or smug they have fab things and I don't.

OP posts:
TwigTwoolett · 25/10/2006 10:17

PMSL Cod patently doesn't cook much

just for you, dear fishy-face

anchovies are a great ingredient in pasta sauces and many other things .. particularly tomato based stuff

and if you get crap ones you may as well not add them

TheDaVinciCod · 25/10/2006 10:25

er i knwo what anchoviesa re
it sjuts the wat you reassure us that you DO have wuality ones!!

TwigTwoolett · 25/10/2006 12:02

errrr no I was suggesting as a store cupboard ingredient that OP should get quality anchovies

you really are a pain in the anchovy sometimes

Tutter · 25/10/2006 12:04

it is a bit funny

similar chickles here as i tend to the same with shopping lists - dh takes the piss

e.g.

pepsi (6-pack)
milk (semi-skimmed)
shampoo (nice-smelling)
cheese (french) (smelly)

Tutter · 25/10/2006 12:05

ps queenmummy sorrey for taking the piss before

LadyOfTheFlowersAKA2Babies0Bum · 25/10/2006 12:10
