Mine is either

baked potato with cheese
or
egg on toast

need some inspiration. Was in the superdoop on Thursday and saw the super noodles - ooh I used to love them. Chucked them in the trolley, got them out of the cupboard tonight and they contain 14 e-numbers - 14

unbelievable

Sue, I'm guessing we're talking about the 'instant supernoodles' where you add a little foil packet of flavouring and some horrid oily stuff, rather than plain chinese noodles to which you add your own meat/fish /veg

I think Moondog is Jamie Oliver in disguise

oxocube · 07/10/2006 19:20

Ooh yes! Toast and marmite can cure most ills in this house

HowwwlidaymumsSalemSpecials · 07/10/2006 19:25

pasta with tinned tuna, sweetcorn and grated cheese

iota · 07/10/2006 19:47

Actually Jamie Oliver had this to say about McDonalds in Good Housekeeping:

"I have my problems with McDonalds, but they're still better than the rest," he says. "Everyone has a go at them because they're easy to talk about. The standards they work to are far superior to a lot of your dodgy fast food places"

BATtymumma · 07/10/2006 19:50

no, Jamie Oliver at least accepts that not everyone is perfect!

MamaGhoul · 07/10/2006 22:46

Thanks, some good ideas here.

My two are similar to Mercy's though - one who'll eat anything (on a good day) and a fussy little madam! She doesn't like rice, pasta, tomatoes/ anything remotely spicy, etc etc - she loves veg/fish/meat/fruit/cheese/dairy.

I always like to have a hot dinner at night (or tea, as we call it oop north) so the butties are out.

Dead quick as in five minutes? As in snack meal?

Scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast.
Eggy bread (French toast)
Pasta, pesto, cheese and sliced tomatoes.(Cook pasta night before)
Pasta,tuna,kidney beans, mayonnaise and sweetcorn
Beans on toast (reduced sugar/salt)
Cheese on toast
Fishcakes (from fishmongers) and peas.
Sandwiches with various fillings.
Cheesy mash with tinned tomatoes.

Followed by yoghurt/fromage frais then fruit.

Poor little buggers probably sick of boring puds!!!

MamaGhoul · 07/10/2006 23:02

Yes, as in 5 mins - regularly do eggy bread, mine love it

wrinklytum · 07/10/2006 23:17

LOL

schneeblysteinsmonster · 07/10/2006 23:22

This sounds revolting but DSs like it and it is quick

get a pyrex jug and bung in some whisked eggs, half a tin of low salt baked beans, chopped up pieces of ham and some grated cheese - mix together and scramble in microwave.

I give them a bit of toast with it.

Linnet · 07/10/2006 23:24

pasta and sauce
egg on toast
scrambled egg

FatThighs · 07/10/2006 23:28

oh I do all of the above I think!

If I am feeling bad I do a 'starter' of cut up cucumber, cheese and beetroot on a cocktail stick - something about food being on a stick makes them more likely to eat it - then don't mind what they eat after that - usually (twice a week ) it's PASTA AND PESTO!!! or TORTELENI (which I can't spell!)

MamaGhoul · 07/10/2006 23:30

thats the problem for me - DD won't eat pasta or rice (which are MY quick meals)

OP posts:
FatThighs · 08/10/2006 16:40

how do you cope when they don't eat pasta!

I suppose microwave spuds??

aDadOnMumsnet · 08/10/2006 16:43

Soup and a sandwich. I make a veg soup every few days, always there to turn to when in a hurry.

ProfYaffle · 08/10/2006 16:44

Quorn sausages with beans
oakcakes with hoummous and cherry toms

We also do the 8p noodles, take the sachet out though and serve with tamari and sesame oil

MamaGhoul · 08/10/2006 17:44

tell me about it FT. DS does eat pasta luckily so he often has that for lunch while DD is at school.

I really wish she would eat it, its so versatile

OP posts:
MarsLady · 08/10/2006 17:47
