Decent tasting teabags

Jemster · 18/11/2014 17:01

I'm looking for a teabag that makes a nice cup of tea, strong enough so there is actually some taste to it.
I've just bought a box of PG tips called 'The strong one' and they are making me feel nauseous! It's not that they're too strong they just taste foul.

Any recommendations for decent teabags please?

Yorkshire Tea.

pootlebug · 18/11/2014 17:03

Twinings Everyday, or English Breakfast.

I asked a similar question a few years ago. Yorkshire tea got the most votes so we tried that first... And have stuck with it. But guess it's personal taste so you might have to try a few

M and s gets my vote. And they are fairtrade! In the interests of fill disclosure I drink the breakfast ones not the strong ones but they are lovely.

The other ones I like are Thompsons Family Tea(?) but I'm not sure if they are only in Scotland. I think they say something about Scotland on the packet. It's blue anyway.

HerBigChance · 18/11/2014 20:13

Assam for me. Or Twinings Breakfast.

phoolani · 18/11/2014 20:22

Yorkshire tea for hard water. Lovely. Flavoursome with just a touch of builder.

WhatEverZen · 18/11/2014 20:25

Another one for Yorkshire tea here

Mintyy · 18/11/2014 20:27

Definitely Yorkshire tea. Won't drink anything else.

Elliptic5 · 18/11/2014 20:27

Twinings everyday, changed from PG Tips several years ago.

NotTodaySatan · 18/11/2014 20:29

Yorkshire Gold.

The best tea ever. I don't have tea in other people's houses because most use PG Tips/Tetley/Typhoo and they're all bloody disgusting.

RiverTam · 18/11/2014 20:33

Yorkshire Tea, brewed for about a minute. Yorkshire Gold you brew for about 20 seconds otherwise it's almost undrinkable, and I like quite a strong cup of tea. PG you have to brew for at least 3 minutes to get any flavour at all.

We usually get Yorkshire (did a blind tasting v Yorkshire Gold and preferred the former) - but recently DH got some Lancashire tea and we think we prefer that. Not sure that you can get it outside of Lancashire yet though!

ErrolTheDragon · 18/11/2014 20:40

(note - I'm a Yorkshire/Lancashire mongrel so no bias!Grin)

Treaclepot · 18/11/2014 20:43

Yorkshire tea is by far the best taste wise.

redautumnleaves · 18/11/2014 20:45

Yorkshire tea, the only thing that compares is Betty's Tea from the Betty's tea rooms but I think it's made by the same people.

Lagoonablue · 18/11/2014 20:54

Yorkshire here too

NakedFamilyFightClub · 18/11/2014 20:58

Punjana, thought I think be it might be called Thompson's tea in England. They've won a lot of good taste awards recently.

Jemster · 18/11/2014 21:05

Great thanks everyone, seems like Yorkshire is a winner. I'll get some tomorrow, really can't stand bad tea!

I don't know if you can get it over in England, but Lyons tea is the bomb.

Sainsburys TTD Assam. Way nicer than Yorkshire. Grin

Timeforabiscuit · 18/11/2014 21:23

I vote clipper tea, but if your willing to jump ship to loose tea, Miles red tea is the best I've tasted but their blue tea bags are rubbish Confused

Laquila · 18/11/2014 21:25

Clipper fairtrade gets my vote, but I like M&S (red box?) and Yorkshire too
