What do your children eat for breakfast?

With two young children (1 and 5), sometimes I feel very tired just thinking about what to give them at breakfast.

Could you pls suggest what to give your children, apart from sandwich/bread, etc?

Thank you

Grapenuts, porridge, wholegrain shapes, dutch bread with whatever spread, weetabix with manuka honey and milk.
At the weekend we have fresh croissants/pain aux chocolat.

donkir · 29/09/2014 16:10

Weetabix minis, weekends can be eggs, pancakes or pain o chocolate

MrsBungle · 29/09/2014 16:12

Usually weetabix and fruit. Sometimes natural yoghurt, honey and fruit.
Scrambled egg and bagels at the weekend.

atticusclaw · 29/09/2014 16:14

generally eggs of some description

Scrambled eggs on toast
cheese and beans on toasted bagel
ham and cheese omelette
boiled eggs with toasted crumpets
porridge with honey
sausage sandwich

They always have a glass of smoothie too and either a banana or half a grapefruit.

vestandknickers · 29/09/2014 16:18

Weetabix or toast.

When I'm feeling domesticated and have time I make them pancakes.

Very occasionally something like croissants or muffins.

Melodygrace · 29/09/2014 16:18

Mine get whatever they ask for toast or cereal usually. If I'm in a huge rush its a banana in the car or a cereal bar on the journey!
They spend that long brushing teeth, playing or their favourite past time arguing that I'm usually late for everything.
My youngest keeps undressing herself as well. I hate mornings.

bigkidsdidit · 29/09/2014 16:32

Usually Greek yogurt (lidl do massive pots of lovely creamy stuff) with mashed banana and blueberries

Ds1 (nearly 4) often has Cheerios with blueberries .

Occasionally scotch pancakes.

MilkRunningOutAgain · 29/09/2014 22:22

Toasted fruit bread
Weetabix
Toast and marmite
Plain yogurt, fruit and honey
Porridge
Leftovers, DD's having left over risotto tomorrow!

This morning mine had a turkey patty, just some turkey mince and seasoning with a little egg to bind it which I made last night when cooking dinner. They had it with beans and a small piece of cheese.

We've completely changed breakfasts in this house since reading a recent thread which mentioned treating them in the same way as any other meal rather than giving empty carbs and sugar in the form of cereal. We all have far more energy during the morning as a result. We also take vitamin D drops, a cod liver oil tablet and a multi vitamin.

MERLYPUSSEDOFF · 30/09/2014 13:39

So far this past few weeks they have had
home made yogurt (given a easyo maker) with wizzed peaches
granary toast with peanut butter or choc spread and mashed banana
cheese on toast
muffin with scrambled egg
brioch
cereal - normally chocolate stuff that makes your teeth fall out
ready brek
fruity toast
weekends are for bacon sandwich or pancakes.

slalomsuki · 30/09/2014 13:47

One has bread and butter, yoghurt, glass of juice and a cereal bar,, second one has two croissants with Nutella, banana, yoghurt and a glass of milk and third has cereal, mango, organise, yoghurt, glass of milk and possibly a cereal bar.

BettyFocker · 30/09/2014 13:47

DS is 3 and eats toast or cereal.

He'll have peanut butter, chocolate spread, strawberry jam or just butter on wholemeal toast.

Or if he chooses cereal then it's frosties, honey-nut cornflakes or some Sainsbury's chocolate/caramel combo. I've tried but he doesn't like porridge.

At the weekends we usually have pain au chocolat.

SeasideSal · 30/09/2014 13:49

Pancakes (ready made sort) with either chocolate spread or lemon and sugar. Very rarely they ask for cereal.

ShatnersBassoon · 30/09/2014 13:50

Usually toast and cereal/porridge. Sometimes something a bit more involved at the weekend.

TheHoundsBitch · 30/09/2014 13:50

2 bowls of Shreddies. Every day. The Boy loves his Shreddies!

helensburgh · 30/09/2014 13:50

10 year old

I'm happy if she eats anything, within reason

Cereal, bread, toast, cheese and crackers, ham sandwich , fruit, yogurt, bacon.

Taffeta · 30/09/2014 16:19

10 yo DS has Dorset Cereals muesli during the week, sometimes porridge
At weekends he sometimes has pancakes or a bacon sandwich

8 yo DD has toast or Weetabix during the week
At weekends she has baked beans with toast or scrambled or dippy eggs

beccajoh · 30/09/2014 16:23

DD (2.3years) has crumpets with butter and marmite every single morning.

Tidypidy · 30/09/2014 16:30

Mine like ham, tomatoes, cheese, red peppers and French bread. Also like the usual cereal and toast.

Asteria · 30/09/2014 16:37

During the week when it is just DS DH and I it is usually a brioche/croissant type thing, with a fresh smoothie or water. We are not morning people - DS has perfected rolling out of bed and onto the bus in 15 minutes! At the weekend we have DSC too and tend to do a more brunchy breakfast (which suits or fear of mornings) - the most requested of which is fat American pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup (so much so I'm looking into getting a Maple tree!!).

AmericasTorturedBrow · 12/10/2014 06:36

DS is 4 and has porridge, peanut butter and banana on toast, peanut butter and banana and almond milk smoothie, scrambled eggs or beans and cheese quesadilla during the week. Weekends he can have cereal (usually Cheerios) and pancakes - either disgusting IHOP ones with his dad, or I make vegan, whole meal, chia seed ones evil laugh as I make his "treaty" breakfast healthy

DD is a nightmare and usually eats cheese and apple despite the above being put in front of her

AmericasTorturedBrow · 12/10/2014 06:37

DS is actually 6. Not 4. DD isn't 4 either, she's 2.10. Pretty sure I don't have a 4yo eating breakfast in my house every day

gastrognome · 12/10/2014 06:47

Pancakes with lemon and sugar sprinkled on. Dd2 discovered she liked them about two months ago and has asked for them for breakfast ever since.
