have you tried the kohinoor curry sauces? I have just found them in our local indian supermarket. they come in a foil pouch and it says they are made in New Delhi, India. I just wondered whether they are worth buying and if they taste authentic?

I'm Pakistani and I think I know the pouches you are talking about, and I steer clear. To get a decent proper curry flavour takes time, eg even onions should be fried for about 15-20 minutes to get the sweetness from them. If you want an easier way to make a curry our you dint want to buy a whole lot of specialist spices, the best way is the ready made spice mixes, made by either Shan or Lazeez. They are quite chilli though, if I use them I prefer to use half the pack (giving it a good shake first to evenly distribute the spices in the mix)

Hth, someone else might come along and say they had it and it was great though!

Personally I avoid curry pastes, I tried one I think it was pataks and I didn't like it. But then a friend of a friend starting making curry paste at home and selling it, that was great. But she e was just selling locally and I've moved now. Sorry I can't be more help! The spice mixes are well worth trying though.
