My dh bought me a lovely burger press, which I'm going to play with tonight. If you make home made burgers, do you add anything extra to the meat?

Grated carrot and apple and fresh herbs. (Squeeze juice out the apple though) and of course onion, mustard seasoning etc

caffeinated · 25/03/2014 10:10

Beef, splash of Worcestershire sauce, few breadcrumbs, grated cheese, s and p.

Nigella's burger recipe

250g lean mince, 1.5 teaspoon each of soy sauce, low fat yoghurt, worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon caramelised onions (from a jar) and a good grinding of pepper. Mix it all together, make burgers and fry off. I use a good non stick pan and I don't need to add oil.

Mintyy · 25/03/2014 20:53

What is the difference between frying and frying off?

Inkspellme · 25/03/2014 20:54

def cheese in the middle - we use goats cheese. also some mango chutney in the mix.

soupmaker · 25/03/2014 20:56

Tomato purée and chopped roasted red peppers from a jar.

Smoked bacon lardons, cooked red onion and lots of dried herbs de Provence.

Jungfraujoch · 25/03/2014 20:59

Grated courgette - my DSs don't even notice Grin

CogitoErgoSometimes · 26/03/2014 09:20

Has anyone said oats yet? A handful of rolled oats soaks up some of the spare juice.

Lattetogo · 27/03/2014 20:46

Taste is in the beef, you need a cut with a bit of fat in it for taste. Best to get butchers to mince up the right mix for you rather than buying minced meat. I just use finely grated onion, a bit of water and seasoning.

SeagullsAreLikeThat · 27/03/2014 21:38

Tallypet, when you say relish do you mean posh burger relish or good old Hendersons Yorkshire relish?

Rosa · 27/03/2014 21:42

Soy sauce and dash of ketchup .
BBQ sauce
Diced onion & lea + perrins
Minced pork and minced beef mixed

Figureof80 · 27/03/2014 21:48

Capers roughly chopped.
