Just a light hearted thread at lunch time...

Mine depends on the time of year, at the moment it's definitely strawberries ('proper' ones, not the imported kind that have no flavour).

I also LOVE our home made bread and a cup of decaff tea in the morning.

And obviously Ice cream (Ben and Jerry's rules supreme in this house!)

Cold, Ambrosia rice pudding. (out of tin Blush

tortilla chips with chillis and cheese

peanut butter and rasp jam sandwiches

Ice lollies

Colcannon is mashed potato with butter and cabbage - totally yummy!

I crave pasta with pesto and chillies, plus either some prawns or bacon...with parmesan on the bacon. Delicious! Several million calories though, if you eat enough of it Grin

essbee · 18/04/2006 21:57

Actually the reason I love parathas so much is because they put me in mind of something very similar I used to eat in Morocco but never found out the real name of - dough rolled out, buttered, folded over, rolled again, buttered again etc (like puff pastry), then fried, but always translated into English as 'pancakes'.
Anyone know what they're really called?

lilstarry1 · 19/04/2006 09:53

This thread has made me well and truly hungry :) I've also learnt a little about food..

Hmmm Moroccan food, can't help you identify what the pastry was, but have very fond memories of sweet pasta and lamb meatballs, all home-made by my best friends Moroccan mum when I was little.

Fab!

Hi, when I'm feeling fed up Sad there isn't any food in particular I reach for, it really could be anything as long as it isn't good for you like chocolate or chips, and to make matters worse I'm going to a slimming club at the moment, which started well but now isn't going so well. Oh well.

Greensleeves · 19/04/2006 10:25

Definitely Chocolate! I too love Cadbury fruit and nut bars, and Mars bars with almonds (-why can't you get them in this country?!)

...but also the giant scones with clotted cream and jam they have at The Orchard in Cambridge.

...and my mother-in-laws steamed pudding drenched in golden syrup!

Are the M & S melted chocolate puddings good then? - we have some in the freezer to try but we're eating our way through a tonne of Easter eggs first! :)

shlucas · 20/04/2006 13:15

Mrs Badger there is no english word for paratha as it is a typical asian food. I make mine with margarine and olive oil on top so they are not too fatening. Well traditionally it is made with ghee (butter oil.

Blackduck · 21/04/2006 14:18

Fresh crusty bread and nice butter
Chips from the Chinese with curry sauce....
Smoked Haddock, poached egg on mashed pot....

Comfort food is choclate, I am also a lover of cadburry fruit and nut. If it is not available then any thing sweet can comfort me.
