LUNCHTIME BBQ party..........would you expect beer and wine?

Would you take a bottle of wine or beers with you?

It is my 40th birthday in July and we are having a BBQ and trying to work out numbers for the caterer

we have:

33 adults,

6 teenagers,

10 children {around 10 years old} and

8 babies or small children with little appitites

It is in July for a lunchtime BBQ

I don't drink alcohol and hopefully some of the adults will NOT be drink driving so won't drink either

DH says they will want wine but I am not really sure

But what would you provide?

TIA

Smile

How about sangria ? - with or without the brandy.

For white wine I would recommend Orvieto, Pinot Grigio (?) or Soave as they are quite light but tasty. Chardonnay is quite popular too.

For red maybe Merlot. Someone suggested Shiraz which is tasty but I find it 'heavy'

never made sangria, but a bit nervous of it cos have got a "friend" coming, who has lived in spain for years

Ask her to make it for you!!

tesco have a lot of good offers on at their wine warehouse constantly. Just ordered some fab wine (ancien Comte Corbieres) and saved about £22 on the standrd prce - also the Tesco Finest Denman vineyard is a lovely white and it's on offer too! If you use Tesco, put in either of these codes at checkout to get extra points:
500 extra points xxTCKP
1200 extra points XXM29H

came from wine warehouse clubcard mailings

Agree with the Frascati, orvieto and Soave as they are nice and light. Could do some cheap cava and can add OJ to it for Bucks fizz. Must say though that 1/2 a bottle per person wouldn't go down too well with our friends! They would bring some too but usually ends up going on longer into the evening than originally intended...

have fun!

I would look in Sains and Tesco from now on and buy the wine when it is on special offer. Sains often has a special offer wine at half price. That way you can get a £6 bottle of wine for £3 (and drink twice as much if you are anything like me! Grin)
Same applies for beers.
Anything left over can always be taken to other parties thru the summer.

calpopscalum trouble is I don't really get on with her {she is kind of an Ex friend - very long story} but she is married to DH best friend

I like the idea of buying when on special offer over next few weeks etc.
