I don't eat jam, but dd has it on toast and the od sandwich. We buy ours (Loganberry and Plum) from our farmers market.
I do however adore Coopers coarse cut orange marmalade, although only eat it on the odd half slice left over after a cooked breakfast (a rare thing in itself these days)

Piffle · 07/03/2006 19:53

REd onion marmalade yes we buy that and have it with cold meats and homemade sausages!

I have a passion for tiptrees little scarlet on thick bread with butter

the girls like seedless raspberry

Lucycat · 07/03/2006 19:56

I make my own red onion marmalade and it's delish, you do need to leave it for a couple of months though to 'ripen'.

Which reminds me I need to get peeling those onions again soon Grin

Heathcliffscathy · 07/03/2006 19:56

my dh objects to lemon curd...but it wouldn't stop me buying it...but it is one more thing to tempt me so i don't....

DumbledoresGirl · 07/03/2006 19:57

No I don't buy jam or marmalade ... unless I run out.

Am I the only person here who makes her own jam and marmalade and have done since I was a teenager? Lemon curd is a doddle to make too.

crunchie · 07/03/2006 20:00

I make my own jam, now where is the SMUG icon :o

So currently I have Plum and apple, blackberry preserve and blackberry and apple. I also make mincemeat and chutneys too :)

I find it soothing, strangely satifying. This year I went OTT and made about 100 jars of various flavours as gifts.

DumbledoresGirl · 07/03/2006 20:01

crunchie - a soul mate (see my post immediately before yours).

Lucycat · 07/03/2006 20:02

You need to find a local farmer's market to sell it - we all love homemade jams, make you a fortune!

serenity · 07/03/2006 20:02

My dad used to make lovely lemon curd, can anyone point me towards a fairly simple recipe? This thread has really given me the urge for some (homemade lemon curd and peanut butter sandwiches, yum!)

bundle · 07/03/2006 20:03

loads. lemon marmalade, raspberry jam (usually bon maman) and apricot sometimes. doesn't everyone?

Piffle · 07/03/2006 20:04

I would make it, but I have very little kitchen storage available, the farmers market I go to has a little family who makes it with fruit from their own orchards... So well... hardly worth me getting a pinny on is it now?

nowanearlyNicemum · 07/03/2006 20:04

my dad and my MIL both make jam so we're fairly well supplied thanks to them
haven't bought marmalade for ages come to think of it, love it though.

Lucycat · 07/03/2006 20:04

Ok, looks good! I'll give that one a go, thanks Lucycat Grin

nowanearlyNicemum · 07/03/2006 20:07

I used to make lemon curd but I can't remember for the life of me how.... I do recall it being very easy though.

Teaandcake · 07/03/2006 20:07

I make blackcurrant and gooseberry jam (because they grow in our garden) and give most of it away.

It is strangely satisfying.

Mercy · 07/03/2006 20:12

We eat/buy Bonne Maman jam (strawberry and blackcurrant) and fine shred (?) marmalade.

My grandmother used to make her own jam; horrible combinations like marrow and ginger.

Bozza · 07/03/2006 20:12

It's tempting to try and make some lemon curd if it is so easy. Could give it to my Mum and MIL on Mother's Day too. Also puzzled at the DH/lemon curd issue.

sammac · 07/03/2006 20:15

Dh reckons ones of the reasons he married me was that I fed him lemon curd( and the fact I used to forget to wear pants :o)
