dh is away this week and my diet has been appalling. I just can't be bothered. I bought myself a piece of fish yesterday but it just feels like too much effort. Toast for dinner again.

I am your sister.

DH is out tonight. I've had a lump of cheese, 3 biscuits and half a bar of chocolate. Pudding is a Creme Egg . Good job he doesn't work away...

Flossam · 22/02/2006 21:09

Nope. Have been hoping that I will dramatically loose weight one of these weeks...

However, while I am not cooking and only having toast usually, I am also eating more chocolate and drinking more wine. [hic]

picnikel · 22/02/2006 21:10

DH working tonight so for dinner I had baked beans on toast with cheese and then some chocolate . AND can spend the evening on MN.

foxinsocks · 22/02/2006 21:11

I always eat with the kids when dh isn't here.

Only problem is that I then feel hungry again at around 8 or 9 and end up wolfing down a whole load of rubbish (biscuits, fruit, toast) so I practically end up having 4 meals a day!

is he in the oil industry?

much easier to eat with the kids cod - can't be faffed with cooking twice when I'm only feeding me

yes that is a good idea (tarting up their food) and saves the dreaded 4 meals a day problem

I must recommend Sainsburys own brand frozen chicken tikka masala for those who can't be arsed to cook. Lovely.

Alternatively Tesco's frozen cauliflower cheese (I got loads for 10p each the other day, not labelled as such, shurely shome mistake) with some bacon and fried tomatoes. Doddle. (My microwave has a "frozen gratin" setting which cooks them beautifully.)

(I have a job now which finishes at 9pm 4 nights a week and something like that is my supper at 9.30!)

foxinsocks · 22/02/2006 21:18

grrrr barcelona have equalised

someone was nattering on to me about how good sainsburys curries are - I'm never sure about supermarkets own brand prepared food. For some reason, I can't help feeling it's all gelatine and crap.

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 22/02/2006 21:24

I eat with kids if I'm at home. The nearest I get to cooking is roast veg and pasta, which is my all time favourite, but can't have that every night.

What are you doing work-wise janh?

puddingandpie · 22/02/2006 21:30

No eat either with kids or cheat prepacked i bought mashed potato on my lunch to day from sainsbury's and precooked chicken drum sticks. So looking forward to my hubby coming home and having proper meals again.

JanH · 22/02/2006 21:31

There is a bit of crap in it, fis, but only a tiny amount (the best curries from that pov are Lidl in fact, but their frozen ones aren't v nice - chilled ones are excellent though and very reasonable.) Try one and see what you think!

Sains chicken tikka masala:

cooked pilau rice 44%
(water, basmati rice, salt, turmeric, cumin seed, cardamon, cloves, bay)
roast cooked chicken breast 14% (chicken, water, salt, dextrose)
whipping cream 8%
onion 8%
water
rapeseed oil
tomato 3%
tom puree
yogurt
coriander stem
sugar
garlic puree
ginger puree
green chilli puree
chicken paste (long list of random ingredients, dodgiest being emulsifier: sucrose esters of fatty acids)(wtf?)
salt
cornflour
cumin seed
coriander
colour: paprika extract (with sunflower oil)
chilli powder
cumin seed
fenugreek

Sometimes. If I eat with the kids then it's OK, but sometimes long for something more varied, so have the odd ready meal around. DH is away for 3 weeks, and had been pretty good so far, but having had baked potatoes with the DCs earlier, have now just had 3 mint chocolate digestives and a load of Waitrose hazlenut caramel ice cream from the tub. Now have a large glass of water to redress the balance somewhat.

kitegirl · 22/02/2006 21:35

of course not, i eat macaroni cheese with ds at tea time and snack on some rubbish in the evenings
when dh is travelling i also become shamelessly messy..

JanH · 22/02/2006 21:37

I'm working in a reservations call centre for holiday cottages, fn.

The hours change as the year goes round. 1st 8 weeks were c 3.30-9 Mon, Tue and Fri + 12-9 Sun; the current 3 weeks are 2-6 Mon & Tue, 5-9 Fri and 12.30-9 Sun; then 8 weeks of 1-9 Sun, Mon & Tue - then (HOORAY) 8 weeks of 4-9 Mon, 5-9 Fri, 4-9 Sun, I will enjoy that!

(Pay is annualised though so the basic is the same all year round. In December if I'm still there I'll only do 8 hours a week )
